Time to realize prejudices regarding child abuse
If our society is truly interested in raising awareness of and preventing the abuse and neglect of our children, then it also requires us to step back and view how our prejudices interfere with the recognition process. Child abuse prevention is not about profiling an economic group, but seeking to protect children from harm and neglect, which can and does happen in all strata of our society. April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and is also a good time to evaluate our perceptions regarding abuse and neglect of our children.
