Public needs ability to peek under shroud
In December 2004, Child Protective Services officials learned that one of their caseworkers helped an abusive father regain custody of his kids, then later reportedly ignored his oldest child's plea for help. By then, the caseworker had become the father's girlfriend.
So what, you ask, did the brass at CPS do about it? Nothing. In fact, while the father wound up pleading guilty to child abuse, the caseworker wound up getting promoted.
