    Hi,

My wife and I are grandparents of three minor children. Becuase of unsubstatiated allegations made by the eldest, over three months ago, our beloved grandaughters are in foster care. This despite that we had provided and can provide more than adequate care for them.

In the single visit allowed by DCS with the parents, the children reported physical and verbal abuse, as well as denial of written and telephone contact with family. In addition, the middle child, who is of a different faith, has been prevented from attending religious services.

This has been about delay after delay. Lies told the parents by DCS. Violations of DCS policies by DCS caseworkers, and a blatant attempt to deprive parental rights without any supportable process.

It should be noted that the police have determined no basis for taking action against the parent.

So, the question is: why are the children still in foster care, or even resident with us, their grandparents, as stated as a preference in DCS policies?

Unfortunately, the reason that they don't place children in kinship care as often as they should is because of all the federal funding they get for children in foster care.

Child abuse and neglect have become more of a path to profits. It is no longer, not that it ever was, about what's best for the children.
