Aging Out of Foster Care: The Costs of Doing Nothing Affect Us All
Aging Out of Foster Care: The Costs of Doing Nothing Affect Us All
As parents, we know that our role in our children's lives goes far beyond providing them with the basics of food, clothing, and shelter. We also nurture and guide them, and as they grow older we expose them to new experiences and opportunities, encourage them to succeed in school, develop healthy relationships, and build life skills. Although adolescence can be challenging for both kids and parents, every positive interaction we have is a critical opportunity to establish the building blocks that our teens need to succeed down the road in school, work, and family life.

The following is the timeline of events...
The
following is the timeline of events that led up to my depression,
incarceration, unemployment, and the involvement of my children being taken
into the care of child protection services. I would like to say before January
2009 I was doing everything a husband and father was supposed to be doing which
was holding a job and providing a nice home for my family. My wife abandons my
children and myself without a word to live with another man. She later gave the
boys up to me in front of the judge in Spotsylvania County. This all caused me
to lose my job, house, all of my personal belongings, two vans, driver license
w/ a CDL, three children and my freedom. When jail was done with me I was five
states away from home and homeless walking the streets of Fredericksburg. Since
my release from jail I have gone to dui court every month. I have completed the
ASAP classes, parenting classes, attended AA meetings every week, completed
three months of GED classes at James Monroe High School and now registered to take
the test. I have done all of this walking as I have looked for employment. I am
now staying at the Thurman Brisben Shelter. I have finally found employment at
a concrete pumping company named Willmar. I am working very hard to overcome
what has happened to my children and myself. I am jumping through hoops for
Social Services, trying to impress them and casa. I want my boys to come home
to me. This year has crushed me. I miss my children so much I can not express
it enough. My children being returned to me is the only thing that can complete
me.

Timeline
of Events
January
22nd 2009
I held a
job at Sunbelt Rentals for almost three years. I was earning 16.50hr with 45 to
55 hours every week. I was earning 40.000 to 44.000 a year. I was providing my
family with vision, medical, dental, life insurance, and a very nice home in a
very nice neighborhood at 6030 Battlefield Green Drive, Fredericksburg. Holly
decides she didn’t want to be a mom or a wife anymore and decided the best
thing for her to do was abandon the boys and myself to live with another man.
From this point forward I fell into depression and I was extremely distraught.
I didn’t eat for six days. I was extremely stressed knowing my job was in
jeopardy since I no longer could get to work on time due to getting my boys
ready for school. Missing so much time from work I couldn’t keep up with the
bills. I called my boys school asking for financial help. There a woman advised
me to go to a church. She suggested Salem Fields Community Church. There I met
Pastor Ron. We, my boys and I started attending services there every Sunday.
There I found financial and emotional support. Meanwhile I continued to keep in
contact with Peggy Mahoney, the Guidance counselor at my boys school
Battlefield Elementary.
Five weeks
later
I found
her and she came back home and she cried because I took her away from her
boyfriend. She stayed for fourteen hours and left us again. Asking me to drive
her back to her boyfriends house or she would walk. I did drive her because she
refused to stay with me and the boys.
February
26th 2009
I spent
six days in Snowden suffering from depression. The events prior to this led me
to my depression and stress which later led me to my termination from work This
is also what led me to be put on all four of the medications that led to my
arrest and incarceration. While in Snowden, Holly stayed at the house with the
boys. When I was released from Snowden Pastor Ron picked me up to drive me
home. He stopped at Long Johns Silvers and bought my family lunch. I ordered my
wife’s favorite food from there. After arriving, we begin to eat lunch. In the
middle of lunch my wife asks me for a ride to her boyfriend’s house. She asks
me this in front of my kids and Pastor Ron. Pastor Ron offered to drive her. I
hadn’t been home for twenty minutes. She was so ready to leave she did not want
to finish her lunch. She packed it up and took it with her. She had left us
again this time in front of the man from church. After I came back from Snowden
my oldest son Raymond let me know that his mother said to him that she wanted a
divorce so she could marry the other man that she had been living with for only
about six weeks.
March 18th
2009
Holly gave
the boys up to me in front of the judge in Spotsylvania County Court, telling
the judge they were better off with me. He agreed and awarded me custody of my
boys. Telling her to pay me 460.00 a month for support. First payment was be
paid by May 1st.
April 1st
2009
April 1st
I had lost the house on 6030 Battlefield Green Drive and moved into the
apartment on Charles Street.. April 6th, 7th, 8th I had missed three days from
work due to getting my boys enrolled in school. April 8th I was arrested the
first time for dui, not from alcohol but from my depression medication. April
13th I was fired from work due to the family problems, not able to get to work
on time and poor performance. The middle of April she asked if she could come
back. I said yes. I caught her trying to sneak around to see the other man and
I had realized my suspicions were true. Her coming back was only a trick to get
out of paying child support. The first payment was due on the 1st of May and
she wasn’t going to have the money because she wasn’t working. When I found her
sneaking around to see the other man I made her leave. She had no problem with
leaving in fact this was her fourth time walking out on my boys since January
22nd. She was out in less than fifteen minutes. About four days later on April
27th I was arrested for dui for the second time in three weeks, neither was
alcohol related, they were both from the medication for the depression of what
I was going through. I spent three months in the jail. While in jail I fell off
the top bunk and ended up with twenty stitches and a concussion. After my
recovery I enrolled in the substance abuse and the GED programs at the jail. I
was released before I could complete them. Meanwhile I wrote my boys eleven
letters. Judge Peterson from the JDR court ordered Social Services to deliver
my letters to my boys and they never did that. So I never once had any
communication with my boys whatsoever. They could have been thinking I didn’t
want to speak to them. I feel like that was wrong. My boys needed to here from
their dad that he loves them.
July 23rd
2009
I was
released from jail. Without a home, job, family, van, all of my personal
belongings being clothes, tools, furniture or any money. My landlord picked me
up and took me to a motel where I stayed the night. The next day I walked to
Social Services to make arrangements to see my boys, Then Kristen Flannery drew
up a service plan for me.
Next I
check myself into ASAP, the dui probation ordered by Judge Stephens from
General District Court from there I went to RACSB. My landlord Kraig Sullivan
and his girlfriend Jennifer Ford picked me up again took me off the street and
gave me a place to stay. I am still staying with Kraig. I have enrolled in the
GED program at the James Monroe High School. I am done with the GED classes and
I am registered to take the test Saturday December 5th I have completed the
ASAP classes this morning and have completed the parenting classes. Recently I
have tried to reconcile with my wife to come back to me so we could work
together so we could bring our boys home. She isn’t interested. She made it
clear she would not be faithful.
November
1st 2009
I have had
no luck finding work so I had made up a flyer about myself to try to find some
yard work in the neighborhood. November 5th it landed me a job with Willmar a
concrete pumping company. From here all I can do is move forward. I am doing
everything I possibly can to impress Social Services and CASA so hopefully
Judge Peterson will order Social Services to return my boys to me. I miss them
and love them so much I can’t express it enough. I am on a mission and I am
asking God to ride along so I won’t be alone.
November
24th, 2009
I have
checked in to the Thurman Brisben Center. This is a homeless shelter and they
are allowing me to save some money so I can get a place. They are welcoming my
boys if I can get the court to have them returned to me.
December
5th, 2009
It is
Saturday. I went to the Germanna Community College and took the GED test that I
had studied so hard for. Monday I found out I had passed.
December
31st, 2009
Cornerstone
Baptist Church came to the Thurman Brisben Shelter to celebrate the New Year
with the people there. I met Chris Brown that night that is from the church. I
asked him were there church was located, he told me off of Highway 17 and he
invited me to the Sunday service. I enjoyed the service. I feel welcome there.
I think it is the right church for my boys and me. I feel it is really
important for all four of us to be surrounded by good people.
January
21st, 2010
Court was
held today in the Juvenile & Domestic Relations 701 Princess Anne Street
Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401. Social Services offered me a deal to come back
in sixty days and review my personal situation or come back in five months. I
took the sixty days. I have worked so hard to try to impress everyone from
Social Services to Judge Peterson by completing all of the programs and
attaining my GED. I felt like all of my efforts were overlooked.
March 18th
2010
Court was
held today and it has been sixty days. The court decided to keep the case as it
is and come back in ninety days. Holly, her sister and one of her boyfriends
was there. I am still at Thurman Brisben Center.
May 14th
2010
I have
left the Thurman Brisben Center to move into my apartment. The shelter gave me
some donations. A microwave, toaster, tv , air mattress and some sheets and a
blanket. After moving in I bought some furniture from the guys at my job, being
Mike Bringer and Marty Mullins. I now have bunk beds, a single bed, four
dressers and a wardrobe closet, refrigerator and a nice wooden cart. Chris
Brown from Cornerstone Baptist Church gave me another tv, microwave cart. I
have had to clean this place myself. I have put in smoke alarms..
May 25th
2010
I have
found out from my family counselor that Social Services have changed their goal
to keeping my boys forever and asking the judge to terminate my parental
rights. They are keeping Brad and Darrell but they are bringing Ray home to me
in the middle of August. On Ray’s birthday to be exact.

SC justices deny requests from birth father, Cherokee Nation to rehear adoption case
South Carolina's highest court on Wednesday refused to rehear a case involving a South Carolina couple's attempts to adopt a girl of Cherokee heritage, setting up a family court action - and potentially a federal lawsuit.
Note: I am saddened by this irresponsible decision by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
The rights of wanna-be adoptive parents should not trump those of a real parent in any circumstance with the exception of it being in the child's best interest, and even then, such decisions shouldn't be made by people like you who have no interest in the best interest of the child, but rather washing your hands of the whole thing because of some whiny infertile couple who can afford a lawyer and who just won't go away.
As for the Indian Child Welfare Act in this case, Dustin Brown should never have had to invoke it because he was the real father and it was lucky for him that he had a "trump card" to play at the 11th hour or he would never have had the opportunity to see or know his own daughter.
In this case it clearly is not in the child's best interest to be returned to the wanna-be adoptive couple. Real parents, (being defined as those who made their own babies, regardless of race or any other factor) who are capable and loving and who are not accused or convicted of harming a child in any way should not have to fight for their rights to their own children. Those rights are God given.
I do not believe that this father was given any realistic opportunity to understand what his rights were or the consequences of any text messages he may have sent between himself and the real mother prior to making them. So basically, this child was adopted out from under him without his knowledge, thus forcing him to invoke the only chance he had.
His military service also interfered with his ability to fight for his parental rights or be there for the child in a timely manner (with the exception of sending cash, which he could have done but shouldn't have had to under the circumstance where the mother dumped him after becoming pregnant with his child and where she could have gotten money anyway under the law of the land and which is the only thing important to people like you). And that is a horrible way to treat any father who fights for our country.
The inability of the wanna-be adoptive parents to have their own child should not entitle them to the children of those who can.

An Outdated Child Protection Law is Playing A Key Role in the Growth of a Global Marketplace For Child Sex Trafficking On The Internet
Every day in America children are being sold for sex. Globally more than 1.8 million children are used in commercial sex. Trafficking has largely moved from the streets to the Internet where a flourishing global marketplace for child sex trafficking has emerged. The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children is joining 47 of the nation's Attorneys General in calling on the U.S. Congress to make a minor change to the Communications Decency Act (CDA) that was passed in 1996 to help address this problem. They are asking for a two-word change that would enable state and local governments to pursue criminal action against online classified advertising sites suspected of being involved in prostitution.

Social workers should use social media to challenge public perceptions
Whenever social media is discussed in the context of social work, it mainly conjures up images of confidentiality breaches and disciplinary hearings. In May, a social worker made the news after being dismissed for describing a case on Facebook, in which three children were put in to care, as a "career high". It was a thoughtless mistake and it cost her her career.
Note: Then everybody would know what a scam this is. Not just the CPS Victims.

A missunderstanding
They took our 4 kids from school.
They detained them and lied to the judge to get the removal order. Three years ago my husband was arrested for DMV two times in a 6 month period. I am the mother and I left him and he went to jail. We lived separately for over a year in a half. During that time my husband enrolled in programs for DMV and anger management as well as AA. He did jail time and realized he had a problem.
Long story short we got back together a year and half after this. We were together for the last year and we had our first verbal argument in regards to me the Mother having a cocktail following a cremation ceremony. My husband felt I shouldn't be drinking since he can't.
Needless to say we argued and I left for a couple days until I could get into a therapist at Kaiser. The therapist misunderstood me when I was scheduling the appt over the phone. He thought we had recent DMV. He had no idea that it was not recent and in fact my husband went to jail and programs and we nearly divorced. When I arrived at the office to make sure that my husband attended the session the therapist asked me for a quick update. I briefly started with our history of DV and before I could finish he said he was calling CPS.
I cried and left before I could even explain it was three years ago. The therapist called CPS and they called me to come to our house days later. I was not home and asked to schedule for the next day. Then I called a family law attorney that did suggested I needed to retain him . We did and he called to cancel the appt with CPS. He told us that the interview would take place at a different day. We then figured the attorney was scheduling the interview. Then 3 days later our 4 kids were removed from school in front of all their peers.
Nobody would speak to us from the department since we hired the attorney. Our attorney said the county attorney was not available to discuss the case. This was a friday. They threatened to send my kids to foster home and put my youngest child alone in a foster home without his sisters. My oldest daughter texted her friend from school and then her father was a police officer and he came and got the kids to take to foster at his house. They were there for a month. We both had monitored visits for the first week, then I got unmonitored. My husband still has monitored.
Finally l got the kids after CPS said they could come home to me. This was after many interviews of explaining the therapist misunderstood me. I was told not to speak to my husband and my kids are not allowed him at all. We have another hearing coming up on July 19 and they are proposing to keep the same situation until Jan 2014. This is so ridiculous......I haven't done anything to these kids nor did my husband,
The kids have even told them that they have never seen violence.
They are scarring my kids from this situation. They are heartless and pretend to worry about the well being of the children and they are the ones causing harm. My kids are all healthy, athletic sociable kids that don't deserve this. The system is not set up for these kind of situations. I have never failed to protect. I left my husband when he committed DV and we had one argument and I seeked therapy and this is what we got.
This is a nightmare ! Please give us some tips if anyone knows. We can't ever get a break from these people.
The system is not fair they even lied and told the judge we had a prior CPS case and have never have. They lie about so many things and twist up the DV police report to sound like I didn't protect. This is not right when they have authority to ruin peoples lives and they barely even have a degree. The social workers have tattoos and terrible grammar and this so called investigator gets the authority to decide the outcome of my childrens life. Please help !!!!

Store Clerks calling the hotline
Me, my husband and my son went to a store. My son was stomping and screaming. My husband carried him out of the store. I paid and we left. Two hours later the police are at our door. The worker at the store called them and said that my husband was punching my son (under 5 yrs. old) in the face as I stood and watched.
To make a long story short my husband was arrested. We bailed him out. Cps came to my door and LIED that they had a court order to remove my son. I gave him to my sister. The worker lied and said that me and my husband were drunk and high on illicit drugs. I took a hair follicle to prove them wrong. They still wont let my son return.
They said I didn't open the door for cps so therefore I am not trustworthy to watch my son. I live with my 75 yr old father and 69 yr old mother who never had a criminal record or a traffic ticket yet cps said they are not trustworthy either. They claim that my son is abused by his father and that the rest of the family covers it up. We have letters from his school who say there was never abuse going on. We have letters from a school principal, local politicians, people who would not risk their reputation unless they know that cps has gone overboard. When my husband went to court to plead not guilty on the first charge he was rearrested on a 2nd degree endangering welfare of a child because my son was interrogated and supposedly said daddy spanks me. This entire thing is insane and I didn't even write the half of it. Cps is a huge business. The workers in my state get a $3000 bonus for every child they remove. That is so wrong because if they need the money that is incentive to lie. Cps needs to be stopped. The only way this is going to happen is if people get together and do something about it. Anyone is one phone call away from having their child legally kidnapped. This entire ordeal has cost us over $70 thousand in lawyers, bail money ect. This should not be happening in America. We need to get the attention of politicians!!! Tell me what I can do and I will do it.
We need to use the media. If I knew that something would get attention of someone in like politician I would not care if my name and story were known. My fear is that once this end I am still only a phone call away from it happening again. Anyone is. Please people pay attention. America is taking our parental rights away. They are saying that they know better as to how to raise our children than we do. Research the laws. Check out infowars.com. Its about the government turning against us. Pass this on!!!!

The Mother-in-law takes the kids
Four years
ago my husband and I living with my grandmother in Keys, Oklahoma had a baby
girl and soon after another baby girl. Renemsee and Rosalie. My family adored
them and never went a day without seeing them; I only wished their other side
of the family would do the same.
My
husband’s mother never came over and basically wasn’t a part of their lives. As
much as we tried to involve here we never got good results. Two years ago my
husband and I make a choice to separate. Things were not working out for us and
we didn’t want to wait around for it to and have our babies gone through it. I
lived with a friend and her daughter in Tahlequah. My husband moved in with his
mother in the same town. Our girls went to school and I picked them up every
day always early and his mother would take them most night after it was their
bed time, weekends was my husband’s time with them. We already went to a lawyer
to at least write in legal papers that no matter how hard it gets or our
emotions we wouldn’t use the kids as tools. We also agreed to be civil, no need
for vitiations.
After a
month I stated dating my best friend who worked out of town and only saw twice
because he was always busy. I now regret it but at the time I didn’t see
anything wrong with dating since mentally my marriage had been over for quite
some time and I wasn’t involving my children. After two weeks I broke off our
relationship because I knew I still loved my husband and knew he could change.
My husband
and I started talking again just as friends and said he wanted to slowly work
things out. That day his mother kicked him out saying if he was to have
anything to do with me that he couldn’t live there. She also took from school
an hour earlier and went to the court house and got emergency temporary
guardianship stating we the parents was on drugs and neglected the children.
Neither of which is true but we knew then we had to prove it.
She took
away our vehicles and my family in Tennessee took us in knowing mentally I was
about to go through a lot. I have always been a good parent. I have millions of
pictures and videos of them. I spent every day for 2 years from morning to the
next taking care of them. And I loved it those girls are my world id never let
anything bad happen to them. My husband and I got a lawyer and took her to
court but every time we drove all the way from Tennessee to Oklahoma and showed
up for our hearing it was postponed with no warning. This happened several
times. We were never given drug tests that we still to do this day can pass.
When we
did have a hearing for first time in months my mother in law got on stand.
After hearing all her lie the judge still gave us unsupervised weekend
visitations. My mother in law asked for us to have a mental exam and we passed
ours but her borderline failed hers. After that months went by with no word
from anybody so we finally went to the judge and asked what was going on. As we
read in our files there was another court date that we weren’t notified of and
the mother in law was granted guardianship.
I can’t
explain the pain this caused me. Being so close to those girls, putting them
first, always doing the right thing, I always made sure I didn’t do anything
wrong so this wouldn’t happen. Before I begin how this has affected me and how
I know I have not been treated fair in court I want to inform you this woman
not only fails mental exams but she’s done this before. Months before taking
our kids she called DHS and took her daughters son same age as our kids. She
also took my husband from his dad and even said his dad robbed her but later in
court admitted to the DA it was all a lie and had to pay fines.
She did
not call DHS on us. She has severe control issues. This isn’t about us as
parents it’s about her and her mental issues. My children are innocent and
helpless throughout all this. They tell me they have been waiting a long time
to see me and how they miss me and want to live with me and daddy. They cry so
much and cling on to us when we see them which are sad because we rarely get to
see them.
My mother
in law has kept them from everybody in my family. She won’t answer phone calls,
if we ever want to see them we have to just show up and that’s hard to keep a
job if we have to keep driving that far taking the chance we won’t see them. We
are very stable and my husband has a great job, we don’t use drugs nor ever
around them. If you have a child or one that you are close to could you imagine
being there for them since day one then suddenly have them taken from you for
no reason by someone they hardly know?
I am
desperate to get my children back. Where they want to be and that’s with us
their family. I know we don’t have a lot of money like my mother in law does or
have as many connections. I want to get them back fair and get my name is clean
that I was always a good mom. Is there any way you can help me, my husband and
these innocent children?

Perhaps they should be offering assistance to the parents???
My name is Allie and my husband Billy we live in Vermont. I will try to make this short but we have a very long very heart breaking story. We feel like we are lost souls.
My husband and I have 3 young beautiful children. We have not been able to see them in a year. We struggled with drugs and alcohol but in no way does our children or ourselves deserve what has happened. We were unaware that while we were reaching out to our family and struggling that my mother was calling DCF. Not only was she calling DCF but she was making up things that me as her daughter could never imagine. She also was planning all along to get custody of my children.
3 years ago my husband and I split up. I had a safe place to go with my children but my mother begged me to stay with her and her husband. Everything in me knew that this wasn't a good idea. My mother and I have had a very disturbed relationship and her husband and herself are also Alcoholics and drug addicts. looking back because I so badly wanted my mother to want to help me and love me that I made the worst choice of my life.
About 2 weeks after living with my mother. there was an argument between my mother, step father and myself. we had all been drinking. before I knew it my mother was in my face screaming she was so close I could feel the spit hit my face. she was calling me worthless. They both were. at this point my mother had called my sister and brother in-law for her version of an "intervention" * remember we were all drinking. I didn't know what to do I was scared 2 full grown adults in my face so I grabbed my mother to get her away from me. thankfully my brother in-law grabbed my stepfather off of me. my mother was screaming she was going to call the police because I assaulted her and I would never see my kids again. I was crying and scared I just wanted her to stop.
My sister and brother in-law calmed her down but she wanted me out of her house. My sister said I could go to her house. I was getting my stuff ready and the kids. At this point everyone was saying Allie don't wake the kids. you can come back in the morning to get them. I refused. but I had to leave the house and they wouldn't let me take my children. So I went with my sister. This was by far the biggest mistake of my life. the next morning I call my mother. I asked what time I could come and get the kids. She told me I was not allowed to have my children or come to her house if I had any questions call DCF.
Tears are filling my eyes now as I this. DCF had told me that because I put my hands on my mother that I was a violent person and unfit for my children. My mother had set the whole thing up. DCF told me there was nothing I could do until there was a court. I was lost and still am. Court came around at this point my husband and I had worked things out but because of that awful night my husband couldn't even see the kids.
My mother was crying in court and so convincing that while my husband and I went thru recovery that she should have guardian ship of our kids that this would make it easier for her to take care of them. The Judge and DCF were also for it. Out of my own want once again for a good loving mother I believed that this would be best for our kids while we get on track. My husband agreed. The moment we left court She has done everything in her power to make sure we will never have our kids again. So my husband and I picked ourselves up got into a recovery program which included urine tests, went to a couples therapist, had a parenting teacher, had a recovery doctor that also urine samples. Doing all this gave us visits with the kids.
At 1st we could see the kids at the kids pre-school, then at Billy's mothers house. everything seem to be coming together. out of no where we had another court date. Billy and I had been looking for lawyers but all wanted at least four thousand to even look at this case. so we went to court. My mother accused us of waking the kids up including our niece and nephew and making them watch us have sex. We were and still are completely blown away. Who would do such a thing. of course we denied such a allegation. By the way this is all thru probate court and it is my mother, step father, the lawyer my mother has, a lawyer for my kids, guardian ad litem and DCF appeared 2 times.
So I am doing my best to wrap this up. The conclusion to the investigation was that until billy and myself could prove sobriety, get an apartment and hold down jobs we can see our kids. there is so many things wrong with this I cant even begin to explain what we have been going thru without our 3 babies. This request would seem easier to most but we also pay thirteen hundred dollars a month in child support. I have mentioned also that I fear my step father hits my kids. I have tried to inform anyone of my fears but all I hear is this is a very unique case or to hang in there.
My middle son just failed his 1st year of school. Someone please help me. I am living in a world of complete loss and heartbreak. I struggle on a daily basis to live. our hearts are hurting and I know our kids are the ones that are hurting the most. please, please! someone anyone help. I know I haven't been able to completely tell you everything but I have done my best. thanks for listening

I do need to appologize to those of you who have submitted stories via the LK Submission Form. Due to changing circumstances (not all bad) it's been all I can do to keep up with the news. However I have finally settled into somewhat of a routine, and will start catching up and keeping up with it.
The Babysitter is a Child Abusing CPS Rat
My 3 children where taken from my fiancé and I, while we where at work, because our babysitter put bruises on 2 of them, and then called the police and said that we did it, and she waited FIVE HOURS after we left our children with her to go to work, before she called the police. TULSA COUNTY
OKLAHOMA DHS AND TULSA COUNTY SHERRIFFS CAME TO OUR HOUSE AT MIDNITE AND TOOK ALL THREE KIDS FROM OUR HOME, THEN REFUSED TO TAKE OUR STATEMENTS, REFUSED TO LET US PRESS CHARGES ON THE BABYSITTER. AND LET THE BABYSITTER LEAVE. THIS HAPPENED AUG 2012. SINCE THEN, DHS HAS NOT COME TO OUR HOME TO EVALUATE OUR HOME, NOT TAKEN ANY STATEMENTS FROM US OR ANYTHING. AND NOW THEY'RE SAYING THAT THEY'RE WANTING TO TAKE OUR UNBORN DAUGHTER FROM US AS WELL, WHO IS DUE IN NOVEMBER. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS MATTER. WE THINK THAT OUR RIGHTS, THE LAW, AND DHS PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN VIOLATED IN OUR CASE. WE WOULD NEVER EVEN THINK OF HARMING OUR CHILDREN. THIS IS TRULY A CASE OF LEGAL KIDNAPPING....
P.S. THNX FOR ALLOWING US TO POST OUR STORY, I REALLY HOPE WE CAN GET OUR CHILDREN BACK HOME. AND PRVENT THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE.

The Legacy of Racism in Child Welfare
The Legacy of Racism in Child Welfare
On July 13, 1863—150 years ago tomorrow—the 233 children residing in the Colored Orphan Asylum were going about their normal routine. At 4 p.m., according to one account of the day, most of the residents “were quietly seated in their school rooms,” the younger boys and girls were “playing in the nursery,” and a few who were ill “recline[ed] on a sick bed in the hospital.” It took the staff and children by surprise, then, when the institution came under attack by “an infuriated mob, consisting of several thousand men, women, and children, armed with clubs, brickbats, etc.” - See more at: http://www.icphusa.org/index.asp?page=26&blog=64&focus=#sthash.JERDGEK5.dpuf
