Mother accused of letting husband abuse adopted twins released with GPS monitor

Regina Ceska, accused of doing nothing while her husband allegedly abused their adoptive twin daughters both physically and sexually over a six-year period, was released on her own recognizance pending her trial.

She is charged with second-degree misdemeanors for failing to report abuse of a cognitively disabled or otherwise impaired adult and neglect of an adult she had care for. The twins, who were adopted when they were 11 years old, turn 22 Tuesday.

Cindy McCain has apologized for telling a radio station she saved a toddler from becoming a victim of human trafficking last month after Phoenix police refuted her story.

McCain, the widow of Arizona Sen. John McCain, spoke with KTAR on Monday, explaining that people should alert police if they see any signs of possible human trafficking, adding that she had encountered one days earlier.

Trump signs law to pump $430 million into anti-human trafficking efforts

Nationwide efforts to confront human trafficking received a boost in the new year as President Donald Trump signed a bill reauthorizing federal expenditures for prevention and assistance programs across the federal government.

The Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act allows $430 million in federal funds for trafficking prevention and education, victim protection and stronger government prosecution of traffickers through 2022.

Globally countries are detecting and reporting more victims, and are convicting more traffickers. This can be the result of increased capacity to identify victims and/or an increased number of trafficked victims Countries have reported increased numbers of detected trafficking victims over the last few years. While the number of reporting countries did not significantly increase, the total number of victims per country did. The trend for the average number of detected and reported victims per country had previously fluctuated during the earlier years for which UNODC has collected this data, but it has been increasing steadily over the last few years.

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken cognizance of inter state child trafficking racket case that was busted a few months ago in Alirajpur. In its letter, the commission has stated that the Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has received information regarding a multi- state child sale racket from its partner organization, Aawaj, working in Madhya Pradesh for child rights.

Presidential Proclamation on National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, 2019

Human trafficking is a modern form of slavery.  It is not enough merely to denounce this horrific assault on human dignity; we must actively work to prevent and end this barbaric exploitation of innocent victims.  During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we pledge to continue the battle to abolish modern slavery and restore the lives of those affected by human trafficking.

Human trafficking harms adults and children of all ages and demographics.  Through force, fraud, and coercion, traffickers push their victims into demeaning forms of abuse, including domestic servitude and commercial sexual exploitation.  These crimes often remain hidden because victims are reluctant to seek help for a variety of reasons, including language barriers, fear of traffickers and law enforcement, and lack of trust.  Human trafficking destroys precious lives and threatens our Nation’s security, public health, and the rule of law.  It is a scourge on the global community.

Hundreds of trafficked children ‘lost’ by local authorities

A quarter of trafficked children who were in the care of local authorities in the UK last year have going missing from the system, according to new research by two British charities that work with vulnerable children.

The new figures raise serious questions about the capacity of local authorities to provide a safe environment for vulnerable children who arrive in the UK alone, or after being rescued from trafficking gangs. The report – to be published this week and seen by the Observer – shows that of the 1,015 children reported by local authorities as identified or suspected victims of trafficking in 2017, 24% – 276 – have gone missing from the care system.

Indonesian babies had been advertised for sale on the social media platform for the past year, which operated under an official-sounding pseudonym roughly translating to 'Family Welfare Institution'.

Maraga to receive report on abuse of adoption process

Baby Was Sold at Indian Shelter Tied to Mother Teresa, Police Say

A nun and a charity worker were accused this week of selling a baby at a shelter for unmarried mothers in eastern India run by an organization founded by Mother Teresa.

The police said Thursday that they had arrested the two women, who worked at the Missionaries of Charity-run shelter in Ranchi, the capital of the eastern state of Jharkhand.

Sen. Rob Portman grills HHS on handling of unaccompanied immigrant children

WASHINGTON - Federal agencies responsible for processing unaccompanied minor immigrants who enter the United States still haven't fixed glitches that have let children fall in with human traffickers, Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman said Thursday.

A subcommittee chaired by Portman began examining the issue after eight minors from Guatemala were placed with human traffickers who forced them to work 12-hour days, six days a week at egg farms around Marion, Ohio. The traffickers are facing criminal charges.

Mother of baby stolen by two social welfare officials yet to re-unite with child

The mother of a stolen baby in Kumasi will have to wait a while longer to reunite with the child.

It’s been three weeks since police retrieved the unidentified woman’s four-month-old baby from foster parents to whom social workers had sold her in the Central Region.
