FBI raids health care facilities in $14.5M Medicare fraud case
The FBI and other federal agents launched a series of Metro Detroit raids this morning in connection with an alleged scheme to bilk Medicare of more than $14.5 million.
Two doctors -- one licensed and one not -- are among 13 defendants indicted by a federal grand jury in Detroit.
Also charged are two adult foster care home operators who allegedly received kickbacks for providing Medicare numbers of residents of their facilities. Those numbers were then used to bill for services such as home health therapy that were never provided, the indictment alleges.
