I will explain this in the simplest terms possible. When trying to raise awareness about child abuse you should use the actual number of cases of child abuse. The number of calls to the hotline is not reflective of the number of cases of child abuse because many are false reports, and many cases are not founded. Therefore the child protective industry is exaggerating the perceived need, and is therefore selling you a line of bullshit.
