National Adoption Month Gag-A-Thon

As a part of our National Adoption Month Gag-a-thon, I have decided to provide you with a dose of self-righteous hypocrisy by bringing you the very best of the blogs of adopters and foster contractors. I've come across this blog before. Give her a piece of your mind.

Foster Parents Bill of Rights

Here's some more...

My Life in a Foster Care Space Warp

They Say: Foster Care Bureaucracies Prevent Adoptions

Here's a good one...
Yearly foster care recertification
"When I had a foster child I barely cleaned my house when the worker came for a visit--she got what she got. But now that we are waiting again I'm in "See how clean my house is? You should totally put another child in this house!" mode."

Now, I posted a link to this one last night, as well as left a comment on her blog. She responds to my comment with this, which includes several biblical passages.
In Response to a Comment on Adoption
OMFG. I'll reply with a biblical passage of my own...

Mark 10:9 "Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate."

And finally, as an end to today's rendition of the National Adoption Month Gag-A-Thon, I leave you with more of the same old regurgitated bullshit by one final adopter...

What the hell is wrong with you? You really believe it's better for a child to be with either a drug addicted incarcerated mother who doesn't give a rat's ass about her kid or a father who wants nothing to do with his son? Rather than a loving family who wants nothing but the best for him? Foster parents who waited TWO FREAKING YEARS for the biological parents to clean up their acts so that they could have him back? You don't even know my friend's family -- how dare YOU link to her blog & take her statements out of context, in attempts to support your own evil cause? Do you even have kids yourself? If you do then you would know how house cleaning tends to take the backseat to the immediate care & attention of the children. Her house is clean enough; there are no bugs or rodents; no dishes piled to the ceiling; no laundry scattered throughout the house. I can't believe you're trying to make her look bad by wanting to dust her baseboards for her worker. Do you dust YOUR baseboards on a regular basis?? I have known Maria for more than 8 years so I think it's safe to say I know her better than you do. I don't have any foster/adopted kids myself but I do have 2 biological children; any time company comes over I scramble to make my home presentable because it is very difficult to maintain a spotless home with babies in the house.

I also loved how you took Scripture out of context to again support your evil cause... Mark 10:9? That's about divorce you dumb ass. You can't take a verse about divorce & apply that to foster care. Maybe you should change the name of your blog from "Legally Kidnapped" to "I Only Take Things Out of Context." That seems to be the only thing you know much about.

AND HOW DARE YOU USE MY GOD'S NAME IN VAIN -- "OMFG"???? If you want to quote Scripture & act all self-righteous yourself, as you accuse all of these innocent foster/adoptive families of being, how could you possibly misuse the LORD's name; His Holy name? Especially since He commissioned us to care for orphans? If parents are still alive yet abandon their children, such as in Maria's case, the children ARE orphans.

I pray that the LORD opens your eyes to see the good hearts of those who open their doors to lavish their love on orphans. You can't blame the good people for a corrupt, failing government system. BTW, I am not being self-righteous in this comment as I am painfully aware of the fact that I'm not perfect either. I openly confess my faults to others(which I am NOT obligated to share with YOU), thus forcing humility into my life. Which, based on reading your blog, you could use a healthy dose of yourself. How dare you criticize those who are doing good work, the work the LORD ordained them to do.

I pray you open your eyes. Haven't you ever heard, "Thou shalt not steal?" I took foster care classes. I know personally, the bullshit they brainwash you fake parents with. Are you aware statistics prove more children are abused and die in foster care than in their own homes? Wake up and smell the coffee. Your not doingchildren a favor. Your keeping CPS in business.

  3. Foster Parents Bill of Rights-
Why should they be the only ones who get treated with dignity and respect when they're the only ones who volunteered to be involved with DHS?
It seems like she just cares about her rights to be treated like a Precious Princess, and not what is being done to the children or their real parents.

My Life in a Foster Care Space Warp-
Um, if the parents got $2000/mo per child and all the support and services and hand-holding that she's getting, I'd bet the kid wouldn't be in foster care in the first place. This totally shows how the system is willing to spend more time and money to destroy a family than to heal a family.

    They Say-
"foster care bureaucracies that handle initial calls badly, force prospective parents to jump through humilitating hoops to become qualified, and don't listen to parents throughout the placement process are among the culprits"
Yeah, that's pretty much why so many kids are in foster care in the first place.

We seriously need to start getting a balanced perspective on the problems. As long as everyone who is pissed off at DHS just talks to other people who are in their same situation, nothing will need to change. Now, if we all listen to other POV's and understand how the system needs to change for everyone, then we could work together and actually get some real reform going.

  4. First of all, I've visited your blog before and the anger and hatred is almost too much to deal with. I stand by my post on Foster Parents bill of rights. I am also a social worker. I do not steal children from their parents. I remove children whose parents are UNFIT to care for them.

When YOU have been at the hospital to comfort a 4 week old baby whose father has RAPED her repeatedly to the point where she has had to have a permanent colostomy, or have spent the night in the ER holding the hand of a 6 month old who has 22 broken bones from her loving "mother", or stayed up for more than 40 hours straight caring for a newborn in withdrawals from the copious amounts of narcotics that his mother decided to consume....when YOU'VE done that, then YOU have a right to speak about social workers and foster parents. Until then, perhaps your time would be better spent rethinking your bias.

Maybe one day you'll really get it, but I doubt it. So continue spouting forth your venom and hatred, I hope it's very rewarding for you. Much more rewarding than actually getting off your butt to DO something worthwile.

"First of all, I've visited your blog before and the anger and hatred is almost too much to deal with..."

There's no anger or hatred here. Simply the truth. Unfortunately that tends to piss people off. Nobody ever said that there weren't children who need to be protected, and kudos to those who actually do. However, if the system was such a wonderful thing, I wouldn't have so much to work with.

Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever. Leviticus 25:44-46.

The bible says slavery and kidnapping of children is the profitable and charitable thing to do.

The Code of Hamurabbi says "an eye for an eye".

  7. Foster Mom to Many-

Yeah, we've all heard the horror stories. That disgusts me too.

I do get angry. For some reason, we have a system that is so screwed up that it doesn't differentiate much between letting your kids sit in the living room watching Diego while you do housework, and anally raping your children while high on crack.

So, I guess I am a bit angry. You'd be angry too. I'm sure there has been a time when you've made a mistake relating to the care of a child. Maybe you accidentally left something within a child's reach, or got distracted or there was a miscommunication. I'm sure you're not 100% perfect, you're not Jesus Christ incarnate.

So, imagine that any mistake you made went on your permanent record. You took your kid shopping and they hid under the clothes rack while you were looking for the right size of jeans. Strike one- he could have been kidnapped, raped and murdered, and it would have been all your fault for taking your eyes off him because you are a horrible person and probably on drugs. The kids you were watching got into your sewing supplies when you were in the bathroom. Strike two- they could have stabbed each other to death with the scissors and it would have been all your fault, and you were probably shooting up in the bathroom. You left the kids playing in the fenced backyard while you made lunch, keeping an eye out on them out the window, and one of them managed to climb over the fence. Strike three. That child could have run into the street and been killed and it would have been all your fault, and you probably sent them to play outside because you're a prostitute and were busy making money to pay for your drug habit. Game Over. You will never be allowed to be alone with a child again, and you should be ashamed of yourself for ever having kids in the first place. YOU ARE UNFIT!!!!

Feel any anger, venom or hatred now? Or are you so incredibly self-righteous that you can't imagine being a human being who makes mistakes. When Jesus said "Let (s)he who is without sin cast the first stone.", you figured that meant you. If so, then you are part of the problem, part of why the system is so broken, and thus you are partially responsible for all the death, rape, and abuse that the "child protection" system allows to happen.

  8. Oh, I actually went to check "foster mom to many"'s blog, and found out that she had a whole entry just going off on me and calling me nasty names.

Honestly, I would LOVE to be able to really do something to change the system, and I've been trying to find ways to do that. However, she's right. Most people with any real power to do anything will listen to a mere bioparent. Maybe though, if enough of us speak up loud enough and often enough, eventually we'll be heard by enough people to start swaying public opinion. Maybe if enough people see that there is a problem and demand that the problem get fixed, the people who have the power to do so will listen.

The first step in creating real change is to get people to consider a different point of view.
You can sit on all kinds of boards, rub elbows with big shots, be involved with prestigious organizations, but if you only think inside the box, and only see the problem from your own personal point of view, you're never going to change anything.

(BTW, note my lack of use of obscenities!)

I guess my children deserved to be taken from me because I wouldnt have sex with the asshole worker. I refused to be the workers own personal hoe. So sorry to put a crack in that persons perfect world.
They need a reality check right up the ass.
