UK asking why horrific abuse cases were ignored
LONDON // Two appalling cases of child abuse are raising fundamental questions about the standards of protection offered to children in Britain.
In one case, a 17-month-old baby boy died of horrific injuries, including a broken back, despite being visited more than 60 times in less than a year by police and social workers, who refused to remove him from his mother and her violent boyfriend.
