I have been stating for many years that newly qualified Social Workers should spend at least nine months being mentored, and kept away from front line child protection duties, until they have proved their competence, and ability to practice safely.
The Nursing Profession have been following, similar procedures for many years.
If the former had occurred years ago, we wouldn't have the tragedies and Local Authority failures, with reference to the death of vulnerable children, and possibly in the majority of cases, Parents having children wrongly taken into care, facing forced adoption, and miscarriages of Justice.
