Governor intervening for girl taken from foster home
It was a stunning turn of events Wednesday night in the case of a 4-year-old foster child nicknamed Poca. The governor is now intervening in the case. In a series of reports this month, the KING 5 Investigators have exposed the state's wrongdoing in the case and those missteps led to the child being torn from the only stable family she's ever known. But now the governor is opening the door for Poca to possibly come back to the place she calls home. KING 5's Susannah Frame reports.

A bombshell just dropped on the Department of Social and Health Services regarding their treatment of a little foster child nicknamed Poca. In a series of reports, the KING 5 Investigators have exposed how the state unfairly took 4-year-old Poca from her foster parents - the only place she's ever called home. KING 5's Susannah Frame has new information.

Let's just completely ignore the fact that it was unfair for her to be taken from her REAL parents and REAL home in the first place. (I know, you're just posting what you found)
ReplyDeleteI am ignoring no facts at all. There are children who are really abused and neglected. Is this one of those cases? I don't know. The issue is not the real parents, the issue is one foster home to the next.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with the child protective industry when they actually do the right thing. When they actually do what's best for the child. Is this one of those cases? I don't know.
But bouncing the kid from foster home to foster home isn't going to make things any better.
Besides, the King 5 investigators are bashing the hell out of the agencies over this. It's just another piece of the puzzle.
It is a pity that High Court Judges within the UK,will not put their neck on the line, by over turning Adoption Orders, in clear cases of miscarriages of Justice.

I didn't mean to imply that you were ignoring the real facts, I realize that you were posting what you found. However, according to my experience and research, removing children from their parents is rarely the right thing to do. Abuse by natural parents is rare. Neglect by natural parents most often is the result of an underlying cause, such as poverty, that is outside of the parents control.

ReplyDeleteResult 12 weeks of hell,he was returned to us after Social Services said, the injury could of been caused accidentally, he was later diagnosed with OI brittle bone disease.

I agree with you 100%. I would like nothing more then to see this child go back to her real parents. I would very rarely defend the agencies actions. They screw up regularly. By ripping the child away from the Langley's, and simply throwing her into a foster home, they are taking a bad situation and making it worse.
ReplyDeleteOne of the major issues with foster children is being bounced around from home to home. This causes emotional and psychological problems that could be minimized or even avoided simply by keeping them in one safe and stable home. This also increases the probability of abuse while in care.
So I post this not in support of the Langley's. I post this in support of Poca. She is the one caught in the middle. She is the one suffering. And she did have an opportunity to be with a family who does love her.
