Woman gets prison for transporting boy across state lines

A Sierra Vista woman who had a relationship with a boy and then took him across state lines was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday. Denise Diane Philpott, 34, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marvin E. Aspen, according to the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Arizona.

Philpott pleaded guilty to the charge of transportation of minors on Oct. 24. Philpott was arrested in June 2006 after having been found with the boy in Indiana. She and the boy, who was 15 at the time, met while he was in the Ohana House, a residential facility in Sierra Vista for wayward youth. Philpott worked as a behavior health technician at the group home at the time.
