A new advocate for foster care system
Laura McIntyre will resolve concerns and complaints from foster parents and children. She will interview caseworkers on the front lines of child welfare. If something goes wrong, she will be the one to find out what caused it.
The two county governments agreed to fund the $53,000 position, the first of its kind in Florida, after a 2007 report found the relationships between foster care agencies and the community had eroded to the point that children were endangered.
