I wanted to add that covering each others asses is a common practice in the Child Protective Industry as well. Workers and their supervisors will lie for each other, and even go as far as making records disappear so that there is nothing on paper when you try to go after them for it. If one does something unethical or illegal, the others will simply sweep it under the rug. If you try to do anything about it, they will retaliate, drain your emotions and resources.
