The Steele Report
An independent audit of the Department of Human Services and comprehensive health care reforms were among the issues recently considered by the House of Representatives.
The findings of an audit of DHS indicate Oklahoma children are removed from their homes at twice the national average. Hornby Zeller Associates (HZA), independent auditing firm, focused their efforts on examining the children and families services division, field operations division and family support services division within DHS. The recommendations of HZA are intended to provide a road map for improving child protection services in Oklahoma. Suggestions for enhancing services include streamlining several functions of the agency to eliminate duplication and help families identify and connect with necessary services.
