Families of Disabled Children Forced to Relinquish Custody
Global News: March 23, 2009 The Plight of Baby Penelope... Families of children with disability continue to be plagued by inhumane choice: To access Government supports and services parents must reliquish guardianship.
An ON family is faced with heart-breaking 'choice' - they have been asked to relinquish guardianship of their child with severe developmental disability in effort to obtain services & funding. This is an archaic and inhuman practice that continues to plague loving families. The scenario is not limited to one Province, nor Country, but is arising globally. We must take a stance against injustice and promote the importance of cementing family relationships.
