The foster mother of a 13-year-old boy who ran away from home and died in Perth in 2005 says they had to wait too long to get him counselling from the Department for Community Development.

The Coronial Inquest into the death of Andrew Anstey has heard the boy was given only one counselling session by the DCD despite requests for more treatment.

His foster mother Lorraine Taylor says the boy had been in nine foster homes before coming to her in 1997.
