According to Tuscarawas County data for 2008, the most recent year for which statistics are available, 552 families were involved in new allegations of abuse and neglect of children.

Members of the New Philadelphia High School soccer team placed 1,000 pinwheels on the courthouse steps Thursday to commemorate the 1,165 children represented in those families.

Note; Just so you will all know, the number of allegations of abuse and neglect does not equal the number of substantiated cases of abuse or neglect.
