Child Welfare: Idaho close to passing law giving rights to grandparents raising children

Child Welfare: Idaho close to passing law giving rights to grandparents raising children

In Idaho, the 20,000 children being raised by their grandparents are closer to having a new law on their side. Today, the Idaho House passed the "grandparenting" bill (HB 610), serving to make it easier for grandparents to become foster parents to their grandchildren. AARP, which strongly supports the measure introduced by Representative Sharon Block, applauded the House for today's action.

It was a great polital move for governor otter to sign this bill but it's not worth the paper it's written on since he doesn't have the balls to enforce it. we need a man who can stand by his word as governor. linda pickering

The Governor did a great thing by posting this law, however, I have experienced since the law was passed that while this law is in effect the Idaho Health and Welfare is not following this law. My parent's have raised my sisters 3 children for ten years and 6 months ago health and welfare stepped in and took my sisters kids and are refusing to allow my parents to have the kids even though at the time the kids lived with my parents but health and welfare claimed they lived with my sister at the time. Idaho health and welfare refuses to follow any law but the ones that they create.
