Strong chance Perry will veto CPS bill

Gov. Rick Perry, juggling his re-election effort with a lot of tough calls on bills lawmakers sent him in recent weeks, may have an out on a bill about child abuse that's kicked off a firestorm among social conservatives and parents' rights groups -- as well as a liberal agitator or two.

Perry vetoed the Bill, but not because he is a fan of the Constitution.

First, he received more than 17,000
phone calls and letters to kill it.

Second, he was told by one of his primary opponents that if he killed the Bill, he would have one less opponent.

Signing a Bill into Law just a few short month's after the Fed's told Texas in Gates that they were out of bounds, would have given Kay Bailey an issue that would cost him re-election.

He's gonna lose anyway, but why stack the deck even higher. He wants to lose, not get trounced out of office.
