New York state central register on child abuse and neglect seriously flawed

New York state central register on child abuse and neglect seriously flawed

Almost everyone knows that New York State maintains a sex offender registry, but few people know that New York State, in deed all states, also maintains a child abuse and maltreatment registry, known as the State Central Register. While the sex offender registry serves a useful purpose in that it makes the public aware of convicted sex offenders, the nature of their crimes, and where they are currently living; the child abuse and maltreatment registry is seriously flawed and is injurious to thousands of people who have never been convicted of a crime. That’s because you do not have to be convicted of a crime to have your name placed on the child abuse and maltreatment registry.

In the scheme of things, NY State is not the very worst when it comes to the child abuse register but it is pretty bad.

In NY, one's name is not expunged, absent an appeal, until the youngest child named in the report turns 28 years of age. Owing to the lax attenetion of the rgister in NY, it has been shown that even then, the records are not expunged.

The Child Abuse Register in any state is unconstitutional and provides for a great deal of abuse against falsely accused individuals.

I am a victim of this government entity called CPS. My name is in the central registry as being a child abuser even though my case has not finished trial after three years yet. They have no proof that I abused my son, even the medical doctor testified that there was no sign of abuse, but I am currently homeless, AND my name is in the central registry before I am even found guilty. It is nice to know that in the good ol' U.S. of A that u can be found guilty of a crime that you did not even commit. FUCK CPS!!!
