Child "protection" is one of the biggest businesses in the country. We spend $12 billion a year on it.
The money goes to tens of thousands of a) state employees, b) collateral professionals, such as lawyers, court personnel, court investigators, evaluators and guardians, judges, and c) DSS contracted vendors such as counselors, therapists, more "evaluators", junk psychologists, residential facilities, foster parents, adoptive parents, MSPCC, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, YMCA, etc. This newspaper is not big enough to list all of the people in this state who have a job, draw a paycheck, or make their profits off the kids in DSS custody.
In this article I explain the financial infrastructure that provides the motivation for DSS to take people’s children – and not give them back.

You go through childhood barely remembering what your mother smelled like. Since you never knew your mother, you’re moved from home to home 16 times by the age of 19 feeling you had about a hundred mothers.
In the process of being moved all over the place, you lose your brothers and sisters, a particular pair of shoes that felt just right, your absolutely most favorite cuddly, and a certain place on the inside of your last crib where you used to scratch with your fingernail to help you go to sleep.

Tibetan Prayer Flags- Uses and Meanings
Tibetan Prayer Flags- Uses and Meanings
By: Sylvia Smelcer
Tibetan prayer flags were originally used as talismans to protect Tibetans during times of war. Originally the Bon people used prayer flags for protection, and put symbols such as the snow lion, the dragon, or a tiger on each flag. Tibetan prayer flags were eventually adopted into Tibetan Buddhism with prayers or messages of hope and peace written on each flag.
The colors of Tibetan prayer flags are significant because they symbolize each of the five elements. Blue stands for the ether, or wind element. The white flag symbolizes air, and the red flag stands for fire. The green and yellow flags symbolize water and earth, respectively. The five colors of Tibetan prayer flags represent the five directions, (North, south, east west, and center). The five prayer flags also represent the five meditation Buddhas, and the five wisdoms. The five wisdoms are compassion, harmony, wisdom of sight, kindness, and perfect wisdom.
Symbols on prayer flags include prayers for wealth, wisdom, and health, or the eight auspicious signs. Many prayer flags also depict mantras, such as the Tibetan Buddhist mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum.Prayer flags can be placed inside of a room in your house, and traditionally they were placed outside of houses as well. Around the frame of a doorway is a lovely place to display your prayer flags. The most auspicious time to hang prayer flags is during the Chinese New Year season. Prayer flags are also hung during times of great happiness, such as a birth, or times of great sadness.
Prayer flags should always be placed in a high part of your house, such as near the ceiling or between flag poles outside. Prayer flags should be hung in the right order, starting with blue from left to right. The actual hanging of your prayer flags should be a momentous occasion, and you can invite family and friends over and hang the prayer flags together. Tibetan Prayer flags above all symbolize peace and harmony with our friends and family, and with the greater universe. If you would like to learn more about prayer flags, or purchase some to hang in your special place, you can do so here.

The Dangers Of Overprescribed ADHD Medications
Here is a good article that I found, I am publishing it because Foster Children are medicated more often than not.
The Dangers Of Overprescribed ADHD Medications
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has become the fastest growing diagnosed disorder among children under the age of 18. Many children in countries such as the US, New Zealand and Australia are being prescribed medications at an alarming rate. As the FDA requires ADHD drugs to carry warning labels, the overmedication of children with ADHD is becoming a real concern.
Most ADHD drugs are stimulant that contain amphetamine. Various side effects have been reported from taking these drugs. Some of them tend to suppress feelings of any kind, making children unhappy. Some are addictive and prone to substance abuse. In some cases, depression can lead to suicidal thoughts or actions.
Ritalin is a common prescription medication for ADHD in children to help them concentrate better. The side effects of Ritalin include headaches, stomach ache, insomnia, dizziness, nervousness, weight loss and even cardiac arrhythmia. The effects of long-term use are not fully known however it has been linked to abnormal brain development and stunted growth in small children.
Adderall is another ADHD drug that combines various amphetamines. The common side effects of taking Adderall include dizziness, restlessness, insomnia, headache, dry mouth and weight loss.
The potential for addiction and abuse is the biggest cause for alarm in ADHD medications. Children, particularly teens, who take these medications without the supervision of their parents and doctors are more likely to misuse and become addicted to the drugs.
There are other types of treatment for ADHD, especially for less severe cases. One alternative treatment is to make dietary changes. There are specific allergy causing foods that can trigger or add to hyperactivity such as wheat, dairy products, sugar, soy and eggs. Avoid refined carbohydrates and processed foods. The latter tend to contain preservatives, coloring and artificial flavoring which can cause further behavioral problems. A dietician can help determine a proper diet plan for children with ADHD.
Herbal remedies are also available to treat ADHD and are effective for mild to moderate cases. These remedies do not come with the side effects and possible addiction that conventional prescription medications do. Behavior therapy is beneficial as it teaches children to cope in various situations. Children that understand how to react when they are frustrated, angry or misunderstood can learn to better control their behavior.
While there is no one treatment that works for every child, the right combination of treatment options can keep the symptoms of ADHD under control. Parents should be less accepting of conventional prescription treatments and should discuss ADHD alternative treatment options with their doctor. ADHD children who are prescribed medications must be monitored to prevent addiction and substance abuse.
----
Medications are the most common treatment for ADHD symptoms in children and adult. The long term effects of ADHD medications are still unknown but medical researchers warned of permanent changes to brain chemistry and behavior. Raynard Price "Ask A Foster Parent Anything- Destroying Kids
This video is a must see! Listen to children and youth. We must also look at how we are destroying these children emotionally. We want them to be great in school, relationships, jobs and good citizens. We damage them before they get a chance to do so. We shut them down emotionally and put them on medication and then claim we are not addressing their mental health when we are in fact the "cause."

That way they keep your kids with mandated reporters. Soon they'll take your kids away for hiring a babysitter out of high school. Yes liscenced daycares are typically safer then unliscenced, but not from Child Protective Workers.
However, it's not much safer then anything else....

The Big Issue

A investigation, conducted by a Cross Part Group of MP's on social services guidelines
An MP's survey of guidelines that are allegedly routinely used to remove children from their mothers is expected to conclude this summer that the guidelines are "irresponsible and ridiculous".
The investigation, conducted by a Cross Part Group via questionnaires being sent out to groups including social workers and parents, was prompted by serious concerns amongst MPs over miscarriages of justice in the closed courts system.
Worried politicians fear that hundreds of children have been wrongfully removed from their families as a result of the flawed Department of Skills and Education (formerly Department of Health) guidelines that social services use to determine whether or not a parent is abusive.
According to campaigners, the guidelines say signs of abuse may include anything from speaking harshly to even helping with homework.
Stress or tiredness may also be read as indications of psychological difficulties-leaving parents vulnerable to accusations of" emotional harm".
The MPs are particularly interested in the effects of the guidelines regarding Munchausen's Syndrome By Proxy (MSBP), also known as Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII). MSBP-type instances can occur when parents of children with genuine medical conditions are suspected instead of feigning or inducing their children's problems.
MPs believe that current legislation makes this a rare disorder dangerously easy to misdiagnose, and plan to expose the problem by revealing exactly how many parents have been labelled as having this condition.
Chaired by Doctor Richard Taylor, other MP's believed to be involved including John Cruddas, Damien Green and Earl Howe.
One member of the group, John Hemmings, feels so strongly about the cause that he has campaigned along side many of the parents affected. Refusing to adopt a 'softly softly approach,
Hemmings determination to speak out has angered several local councils, many of which have threatened him with imprisonment.
He said ; "A lot of things are very badly wrong with the guidelines , and have been recognized as badly wrong. This is a systematic problem rather than just a few bad apples. Mistakes keep happening that are allowed and even encouraged.
"I'm in favour of a complete rehash of the system. I think that the idea of a child being taken away from their parents because they come into contact with a dog is, quite frankly, testing the boundaries of sanity. And yet, unless people speak out, nothing will be changed and the guidelines will remain in place."
The committee will report on its conclusions this summer. MPs are hoping that this will encourage the government to scrap overzealous guidelines, replacing them with legislation geared towards keeping families together.
A spokesperson for the Cross Party Group said; These guidelines mean that any child with special needs could become a subject of aggressive and misconceived investigation. They mean that once a child is referred to the social services, there are limitless reasons to keep them there and break up the family.
"The mistake has happened in the quest for perfection. No concern is too small to be taken seriously, and consequently almost anything can be taken as MSBP or FII-including the vague possibility of future emotional harm".
The spokesperson continued:
"The survey is taking place because there are substantial professional concerns about the way that social services apply these guidelines, and the potential for serious harm. So far our questionnaires have reflected and supported this. It appears that the guidelines are really a tool for social services to get their teeth into a family and hack it to pieces.
"The proper outcome for the survey would be a complete with-drawal of these guidelines, and this is what we are hoping for.
Otherwise the same rules will just be marched on for the next 50 years".
This investigation is fully supported by campaigners such as Linda McDermott, who lost her child two years ago following accusations of emotional harm.
Ignoring medical records that show her son to be asthmatic, the court ruled that McDermott had been poisoning him with inhalers and was therefore an unfit parent.
Robert (not his real name)-who also has leukaemia-was placed in care and now sees his mother for a maximum of one and a half hours every month. McDermott has since committed herself to counselling women in a similar position, and plans to set up her own helpline in the future.
"I see hundreds of women who have lost their children and been through hell", she said. Desperate mothers who are not allowed to send their kids birthday cards because they've been accused of emotional harm. They're not violent or abusive- they're just ordinary women who feel cheated and helpless. All they want is access to their children, but they're denied it for reasons that are completely invalid.
"I have met parents who have lost their children because they've had nappy rash, or because they've banged their legs in the bath. One woman lost custody of her children because her daughter developed a bad cough that made it difficult for her to breathe.
"We want to put an end to cases like this, and that is why we campaign and protest. The MPs' survey should make it clear exactly how many women have had children taken from them for almost no reason at all -- for the first time, these women will have some kind of voice."
FPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT="
Another woman campaigning for change is Yvonne Coulter. Her baby daughter Tammy mother and daughter now pictured left) was taken away from her after bruises gained falling out of a high chair were interpreted as signs of abuse. Over the next three years it was proved beyond doubt that Coulter was a good and loving mother- but by the time the case came to court, the judge followed social services' advice to leave Tammy with her adopted parents, because Yvonne would "be a stranger to her". Seventeen years later, however , Tammy managed to track down her mother via a Genes Reunited website and the pair met again. Tammy now lives with her mother and brother Cameron, and together they are working to open up the secretive family courts system that they say allowed this to happen. Yvonne said:
"The experience was completely devastating- it ripped my life apart. I was completely alone and I had no one to turn to because I had no idea that this was happening to other's too."
"Now I am seeking legal action against the courts, because I can never replace the years that I lost with Tammy. I have also set up a website offering support for people in similar situations, which has received 79,000 hits this year. (http://www.unity-injustice.co.uk/)
"Many of these people have had their lives completely ruined and something needs to be done to protect others from suffering in the same way that they have. The more people know what a horrendous mess the social services are in the better".
Ian Johnstone, chief executive of the British Association Of Social Workers, was scathing about the MPs' stance. "It's not responsible for politicians to say such things. Social workers have a very difficult job to do and they take decisions as part of a group of health professionals.
I don't see them as over-zealous-they're just doing their job".
Your Child and the Foster Care System
Imagine being a small child, lying in your bed and suddenly strangers come and take you out of a sound sleep. The last thing you see as you exit the house is your hysterical mother who is being held back by the police, screaming at the top of her lungs, “Please don’t take my baby away!” You are then put into the back of a car while kicking and screaming for your mother and taken to live with people who you have never met before.
Not all child removals initiated by Child Protective Services are that dramatic, especially if the child is taken from their school or daycare. But when a small child is removed from the home, often times it’s done in the middle of the night. A social worker comes knocking on the door accompanied by the police. The parents are in a state of confusion and hysterics and the child is taken away and placed in the foster care system.
The process of being removed from the home by Child Protective Services can be a traumatic experience for any child. It can have a lasting effect resulting in various psychological disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder and severe Depression, although that part of it is usually swept under the rug or blamed on the parents.
So, what could be worse then that? How about being caught up in the foster care system? Usually the child will be placed in a temporary foster home and then bounced from home to home every few months until they exit the foster care system. A high percentage of foster children are diagnosed with various mental disorders, most commonly ADHD and Depression. If the child is diagnosed with any of these they are sure to be medicated for it, often quite heavily.
Exiting the foster care system happens in various ways. A child can be reunited with their parents for example, or they can be adopted out. Some children are placed with other relatives, although this is too rare of an occurrence. Many exit the foster care system by turning 18, a process known as “aging out.” When a child ages out of the system, it is typically with no emotional or financial support. They’re suddenly on their own without the ability to take care of themselves. Many who age out of the system end up homeless or in jail within the first year of being emancipated.
Most children who age out of the system do so because they are not adoptable. This is often due to the child’s age or special needs. Very few perspective parents want to adopt a child with special needs, and most don’t want to adopt older children who come with the heavy emotional baggage that life in the foster care system places on children. So a family becomes an unrealistic dream for many children caught up in the system.
If a child’s special needs are too severe, they may not even be able to live in a foster home. These children will instead be placed in group homes staffed by trained workers and simply medicated and controlled until they turn 18.

Would You Want Your Children Bonding With Strangers?
I think that most foster parents are genuinely in it with nothing but the best of intentions. However, there is a fine line here that needs to be mentioned. What is the difference between good intention and self-righteous hypocracy?
This morning, while bouncing around the internet, I came across a blog article entitled, Should Foster Parents Bond With Their Foster Children? This woman wants to bond with the children who come to stay with her for a short time.
I was personally sickened by this whole blog. It is about as anti-birth parent as it gets. Not every child who is put into the foster care system is due to abuse. Some parents are easy targets because they simply can’t afford an expensive attorney. Some may have comitted a crime that had nothing to do with abusing the child, but because they are in jail, the kids end up in foster care. I am only mentioning it because change is needed, not only a change in the system but a change in the whole mentality that justifies its existence.
I left a comment on this post. However the foster parent who wrote this will probably moderate it out, so I decided to post it here:
----
I'm sorry, but I must disagree. If you are a short term placement, bonding would only hurt the child at the time they are moved. A child who comes to you traumatized from abuse and a removal from their home wants love, safety, and compassion, but they also want and desperately need stability. They stay with you for a couple months, start to settle in, start to trust you, start to feel comfortable, and wam it's time for them to move on.
Children who are in multiple placements over a period of time tend to develop attachment disorders because they know that they're just going to be moved again.
Children who are new to the system have no clue as to what they're in for. For a small child, a couple of months can be an eternity. The child will naturally want to bond with you, but if you know that you're a short term placement, then you should do whatever you can to prepare them for that reality. If that child has bonded with you, they will relive the trauma when it's time for them to move on.

If you have ever been visited by a Child Protective Worker, chances are your being visited by a very young, newly graduated, bachelor’s level social worker with no life experience or kids of their own. Many child protective workers are very new to the field of social work and although they go into it with nothing but the best of intentions, the stressful nature of the job will soon take its effect. Often, DCF or CPS or whatever it’s called in your state will send out interns who haven’t even graduated yet to assess what can be considered very serious situations.
These inexperienced workers are sent out to collect information speak to children and families and look for various signs of abuse or neglect. As a result, mistakes are made. Children who are not in any imminent threat of harm are removed and put into the foster care system, and children who are in serious danger are left there often times resulting in the death of a child. In the event of the death of a child, there is usually a public outcry against Child Protective. “More should have been done to protect that child!” The workers then have to step up their efforts to protect children. This results in more parents being investigated and more mistakes being made.

"Each year, more than 20,000 U.S. teenagers turn 18 and leave the foster care system, including 4,000 in California."

"Each year, more than 20,000 U.S. teenagers turn 18 and leave the foster care system, including 4,000 in California."
"These young people become like instant orphans," said Karen Mathis, president of the American Bar Association and founder of its Commission on Youth at Risk. "They can't go back home, and they're entering a world as adults without the skills they need to live. And the results can be horrendous."

When A Child Protective Worker Shows Up At Your Door - Keep Your Mouth Shut!
Many states have made it a requirement to promptly investigate any and all reports of child abuse or neglect. The states have set up hotlines where neighbors can call to make anonymous reports. This results in thousands of reports every year. However, most reports of child abuse and neglect are found to be unsubstantiated. Therefore thousands of innocent parents are put through a Child Protective investigation without just cause under the social belief that “Protecting the child is more important then protecting the integrity and privacy and Constitutional Rights of the family.”
When a Social Worker shows up at the door, the parent is usually coerced into giving up their constitutional rights, especially in regards to the 4th and 14th amendments. The worker will talk their way into the home and begin snooping around, looking for and making note of any imperfection in the condition of the family or the home. Often times they will show up at the child’s daycare or school, the parent will then get a phone call from a social worker asking for permission to speak with the child regarding a report that they received. If the parent refuses, the worker is trained in ways to handle such rejections. Often they will say, “If you cooperate, it will look better for you in court… If it goes that far.” However, if there is no reason for it to go that far then it could be in the best interest of the family or the child to refuse to submit to the investigation.
When a parent submits to an investigation, they are then put through the ringer. They will be asked to sign releases of information so that the social worker may speak with the child’s teachers, doctors or any other professional service provider. These service providers will then be asked probing questions. They put the parents through a line of questioning and may even request that the parents submit to a drug screening. What’s your home life like? How do you discipline your children? They will open refrigerators and closed doors. They will look in closets.
All of this is done with the parents consent.
It is also a fact that corruption in the system runs deep and could easily be proved if not for the confidentiality laws which are in place to protect the privacy of the families and children who are brought to their attention. These laws also protect the agencies in charge of Child Protection from lawsuits for violating constitutional rights. Children who are interviewed by workers are easily manipulated to give the answers that the worker will be seeking. The parent does have the right to have a lawyer present during the questioning of the child but the worker will want to speak with the child alone, claiming that they are trained to do so.
The one thing that a Child Protective worker will not do is honestly explain your legal rights in this situation. They come to your door with an agenda and protecting the rights or integrity of the family is not one of them. What most parents don’t understand is that the same rights apply in a child protective investigation as in any criminal investigation. And it is the responsibility of the parent to protect their own rights. In other words, they need a parent’s permission to enter the home or speak with the child. If permission is not granted, then they must obtain a court order. In order to be granted a court order there must be probable cause. An anonymous report is not enough to be considered probable cause, however a report from a mandated reporter such as a professional service provider is. The reason is that a mandated reporter can be brought into court as a witness. An anonymous report typically can’t be followed up on.
A child protective worker will also not read you your Miranda Rights. In fact many parents both willingly and unknowingly give up these rights. This is done in an effort to appear cooperative. However anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. I asked a friend of mine, who is an attorney; “If you could give one great piece of advice to any parent when a Child Protective Worker shows up at the door, what would it be.”
She replied, “Keep your mouth shut.” She then went on to say that most children who are removed and put into the foster care system or most cases that are opened are due to what was said during the initial interview, not what was said in an anonymous report.

FOSTER CARE FINDING A PERMANENT SOLUTION
The average time a child spends in foster care is three years. The average number of foster homes a child lives in is six. That means that a child in foster care moves, on average, every six months. They usually don't finish an entire year in one school.

Foster Care System Flawed
It's amazing how it takes a "study" to figure this out. Watch the wording.
"Abused or neglected children." That's what CPS, DCF, or whatever it's called in your state does. Abuses and neglects the kids in it's care. So here's an article about about the flaws of Florida's Foster Care System. Children in foster care denied medical an mental health treatment.... Shameful.
Study: Foster care system flawed
Particularly, watch the wording on how children with mental health issues need and are being denied treatment, and remember that foster children are often medicated regardless of need. It is my theory that they are often used as lab rats. Every aspect of their lives is monitored in group homes so there are tons of secret records. They are used to test the long term effects of psychiatric medications on children. Family ties have been cut off, so there is nobody there to protect the children from this.
Although this article picks at some of the flaws of the Child Protective System in one state, these problems are similar in other states. This article uses wording as a propaganda tactic. Propaganda is used to sway public opinion. We all believe that "It shouldn't hurt to be a child," but what's worse, a spanking or being ripped away from your family in the middle of the night, bounced from home to home placed with strangers who don't love you and forced to take little pills to keep you subdued?
It all comes down to nature vs. nurture. Kids who grow up without loving families tend to do stuff like this Click Here! at much higher rates than those with loving families.

What About Foster Children Who Grow Up?
For foster children, life as an adult is more difficult then most. Here is an article about how the heroic Foster Care System destroys lives.
When kids who grow up in foster care "become adults," they’re more likely than their peers with family support to be homeless, get in trouble with the law and suffer from substance abuse or mental health problems.
Many children in the foster care system were rescued from happy loving homes.

Every time a caseworker messes up, some new rule is created.
Every time a caseworker messes up, some new rule is created.
Children who need protection are often denied protection.
Children who don't need protection are often taken into the system anyway.
This child was denied protection.
Caseworkers will now be more likely to utilize one of their favorite tactical excuses, "Better to be safe then sorry," meaning that they will remove several more children from their homes, who otherwise wouldn't have been, due to the possibility that something could happen, to prevent another public out-cry against them. This is done for appearances. Makes them look like they're doing something.
It's a vicious cycle. Many of these stories are swept under the rug, they rarely make the news papers. If they did, there would be a nation wide public out-cry against it. This is why confidentiality laws are so important. These laws enable a corrupt system to cover their tracks.
All I'm saying here is that Child Protective Services or whatever it's called in your state or country, needs to be subjected to the same checks and balances that other government institutions and agencies are subjected to. This will ensure fairness in the system, will prevent abuse of power, and you would know where all of this money is going.

Foster Parents can be predators too
A mentally retarded foster child ends up pregnant, the dad is the foster father.
Earlier this year, the Department of Children and Families settled a lawsuit brought against the agency by guardians for Pierreisna Archille for $1.3 million. The lawsuit alleged DCF ignored repeated allegations of abuse brought by Pierreisna’s sister, Darlene Achille, against their foster father before Pierreisna ended up pregnant.

Fired Workers
Here we have the good old double standard. The view of workers not doing enough to protect children.
Child protection workers lose jobs
When are they going to start being fired for corruption, purgery, destroying families, violation of the 4th and 14th amendments of the United States constitution, unnecessary medicating of children, child endangerment (by placing them in abusive foster homes) etc.
Not until enough of you people realize that this is all about money. Child protection is the face of a massive money making scheme which is covered up by the confidentiality laws.
So more workers need to be fired. The system needs to be fixed. Children need to be protected. I would never suggest otherwise. All I'm saying is that the system currently in place is overrun with corruption.

SV FRYTOWN PARALEGAL SUES LOCAL, STATE GOVT FOR $50 MILLION
Says false accusations, bungled investigation led to harassment, Sex Predators listing - Federal Court action names AZ AG Goddard, DES' Child Protective Services, County Attorney Rheinheimer, Sheriff Dever, CPS Agents Closson, Pulich, CCSO Officer R.B. Comacho - By David M Morgan
James P Nord, of N Canyon Dr, Sierra Vista (Fry Township), has filed suit against several Cochise County and State of Arizona employees and officials, in official and personal capacities, and demands $50 million in compensation related to false charges of sexual molestation of a child.
The U.S. District Court action claims violations of Nord's civil rights, libel and slander. He alleges that on Feb 28, 2006 Cochise County Sheriff's officer R.B. Comacho used the ruse of an animal control violation to enter his home as a part of a scheme involving others setting up Nord to be investigated for sexually molesting a child, allegations Nord says are absurd and unfounded. The complaint says that Comacho never filed a report, and that there is no record of dispatching the officer.

Children held against their will by MCFD
3 sisters taken out of the blue from their home, separated, isolated, interrogated for months, lied to by the police and social workers. The girls call it jail. They want to see each other more, see their friends, and go home. But BC MCFD have their best interests at heart by antagonizing them to hate the system they have been thrown into. They are not allowed to talk about any thing that happens to them in foster care no matter how outrageous or abusive. If they really have our children's best interests at heart what is BC MCFD trying to hide by not letting the children be allowed to speak out about their feelings and thoughts.

Father trips over a cord and falls on child and breaks the child's leg, all the children are taken away by DCF and the husband put in prison. Her new daughter, born July 22nd, was taken from the mother as soon as she was born. DCF said her children would be taken for adoption "because they were blond hair and blue eyes and they would go quick." (more)
