LETTER - State shouldn’t lose focus on family preservation
The task force called for efforts to take fewer children from families and rely less on foster care. But Ahmed’s budget takes money from the poor people who rely on help from essential programs and hands it over to the state foster care system. In a interview in the Detroit Free Press of May 29, Ahmed is quoted as saying “there are no direct cuts to foster care. In fact, we’ll be putting more money in foster care.”
