Ritalin ADHD Drug Linked to 500 Percent Increased Risk of Sudden Death in Children

Just how dangerous are the amphetamine stimulant drugs prescribed for children with so-called ADHD? According to scientific research funded by the FDA and the National Institute of Mental Health, drugs such as Ritalin increase the risk of sudden death by five hundred percent among children and teens.

Absolutely and this is an issue that all medical practioners and the parents of ALL CHILDREN must become better aware - and informed - of: Stimulant medications can be beneficial for the treatment and management of a variety of symptoms, for instance, enhancing attention. HOWEVER, if this medications are to be utilized, a disclosure of risks to health must be made and a thorough medical performed prior to commencement! Cardiac arrest can be a side-affect for those who have an unknown heart defect or unidentified arrythmeia. An EKG is not sufficient to rule out a problem and an ultrasound should be incorporated into the exam. This is also true of all children who play particularly strenous sporting activities... Check their heart first!
