Foster kids may need psychotropic drugs
While I am always happy to see legislators taking an interest in the plight of foster children, I think that the call by Rep. Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington state, for greater oversight of the use of psychotropic medicines in foster children is not the best way to help them.
Foster children experience levels of loss, trauma and pain that are almost inconceivable to most of us, and removing them from their family, no matter how bad, adds another layer of hurt. The kindest thing we can do is to keep that hurt from happening.
Note: What an idiot.
