Sex offender sentenced to 20-50 years
A Ripley man convicted of four counts of sexual abuse on a minor will serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars for the crime.
Robert A. Atkinson, 51, of Ripley was convicted on August 27 of two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree and two counts of sexual abuse by a custodian for sexually abusing a teenage foster child in his care. Atkinson appeared before Judge Thomas C. Evans, III, for sentencing on Wednesday morning.
