‘The Orphan Train’

‘The Orphan Train’

Between 1854 and 1929, more than 250,000 abandoned or poverty-stricken New York children were relocated to Midwestern families to relieve the overpopulation in the city’s streets. In “The Orphan Train,” the latest YouTheatre production, young actors tell the stories of nine of these children on a train in 1914 and the homes they find — or don’t find. “The Orphan Train” will be onstage at Flat Rock Playhouse Nov. 14 through 23.
