Father admits abducting girls, gets community work
A Gate Pa man who snatched his two daughters from a Child Youth and Family foster caregiver has been sentenced to 240 hours' community work.
Jamahl Ake, aka Schou, 34, had denied two charges of abduction but changed his plea at the start of what was to be a 2 day trial in Tauranga District Court yesterday. The charges attract a maximum penalty of 14 years' imprisonment.
