State list destroyed life of social worker
n 2009 on the Register's Opinion pages, we told the story of Greg Geist. A social worker, he was accused of abuse and placed on the registry - before he was even interviewed by an investigator. He lost his job, couldn't get another, cashed out his retirement savings and had to declare bankruptcy. After more than a year, an administrative law judge reversed and "found to be incorrect" the findings of DHS.
