Weidner was fired up to run by the "Baby Gabriel" case, in which the state considered but ultimately rejected placing a child with relatives in Mexico, and his own dealings as a foster parent with the state's Health and Human Services agency. "Our tax dollars are paying to destroy these children's lives, and we've got to change that," he said.
