Texas Family Thrown Out of Storage Unit After Five Years
Due to a lack of running water, a Houston couple and their six children have been evicted from a storage unit that they converted into a home after living there for five years. Child Protective Services (CPS) has placed all six children with family relatives. Over the past five years, the Leonard family had converted their 10,000-square-foot storage unit into a cozy home complete with air conditioning, beds, a bathtub, a microwave and two computers. However, they store their water in a five-gallon drum, making the habitation unsuitable for children, according to CPS. The Leonards moved into the unit with the owner’s tacit permission, who, according to Mrs. Leonard, “understands what it is to be poor.”
