The only problem with that is that the other side has created this mentality amongst the voters that any politician who fights the system is labeled as anti-child. The anti-abuse fanatics jump all over stuff like that, leak a few excessively horrible stories to the media to back up their claims and then the anti-child politicians don't win any more elections.
One of the senators from my state recently had an election year photo-opportunity with an adoption agency, making a big deal over the senator’s support for the renewal of the adoption bonus and how it would "help 'abused or neglected' children." That's free advertising. That sort of thing makes them look good to the average voter who doesn't truly understand the issue because they are ignorant of it, it simply gives the senator something to brag about in order to lure in various groups of voters. Politics is all about gain and people only see the propaganda, not the reality. These people have something to gain from the senators support and the senator has something to gain from theirs. Government is not your friend because they don't want to look beyond the common understanding of the issue. It is not politically correct to do so.
The real problem is with the general public perception and a lack of understanding. To properly attack CPS or any of their cronies, you gotta hit them where it hurts. Their public image would be a real good place to start. You need to expose the money trail and you need to expose the system sucks. You need to give them a label just like people have been labeled as abusers. To most people, in this day and age, an abuser is viewed as a monster. If you really want to make a difference, you need to return the favor.
The terms "abuse and neglect" have become so generic in the minds of most people that levels of abuse or neglect (how bad it is or individual details based on individual cases) no longer matter. Think about it. I'll bet that most of you had no clue that this sort of thing would ever happen in America, until it happened to you. People hear the words and instantly relate it with some horrible child abuse case which they saw on television a few nights before. Every case is different and they have removed that factor from the common understanding of the people, because not very many people realize that it can happen to them. They don't feel that they are doing anything wrong. They don't understand that it just doesn't matter. All you have to be is an easy target and you’re screwed.
