Ban on mixed-race adoption to be lifted under new proposals that could release thousands of children from care

The racial bar that has stopped tens of thousands of children living in state care from finding new families through adoption is to be lifted under a new law published yesterday.

I worked for a private CPS agency in West Virginia.

Non-white children are considered special needs and therefore not worth investigatione because they are too hard to adopt out.

    Even in extreme cases.

It disgusted me to find this out.
I wondered why the only family info I entered was white. We were told not to open black or hispanic cases because the state couldn't afford to pay foster families a special needs rate.

We had a case of a family of 6. Two adults and four children....living in a shack with no water, heat or electricity. The children were malnourished and had worms.

The case was closed the same day it was investigated.
