Ivanka Trump shock: How Ivanka’s mother ‘threatened to put her up for adoption’

Dubbed the First Daughter due to her unusually high position in her father Donald Trump’s administration, Ivanka has been vying for his approval her whole life. However, she reportedly “had her moments” as a teenager that pushed her mother to make a shocking threat of being put up for adoption. In an interview with Marie Clare in 2007, she said: “I think my mum threatened to put me up for adoption a few times.”

Trump administration nixes educational, recreational activities for migrant children in U.S. custody

The Trump administration on Wednesday moved to end all educational, recreational and legal services offered to migrant children in U.S. custody, warning the public and Congress that it is running out funds to take care of unaccompanied minors detained near the southern border.

Citing a "tremendous strain" on the agency fueled by the unprecedented flow of migrants from Central America heading towards the U.S.-Mexico border, the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), an office within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) charged with taking care of migrant minors, said it was winding down programs "not directly necessary for the protection of life and safety" of unaccompanied children in its custody.

I bring you the Presidential Proclamation of National Foster Parent Glorification Month. 

If this doesn't demonstrate that President Trump has a thing or two to learn, I don't know what does.

The future of our Nation rests with our children.  We must invest in their futures, instill in them the values of family, faith, and country, and ensure they have every opportunity to realize their full potential.  The development of our children begins at home, and my Administration is fully committed to strengthening American families.

This month, we recognize that there are children in our towns and communities who may not have a family, or whose families may be experiencing great difficulty and hardship.  In America, we believe in standing beside these children, walking with them through their trials, and finding permanent and safe families for each of them.  Kindhearted citizens across our land embody this belief, dedicating their time and efforts in doing so.  In fiscal year 2017 alone, American families opened their doors to 443,000 young people in foster care ‑‑ a number that has increased each of the last 5 years.  During National Foster Care Month, we honor these patriots, who open their hearts to children who need a home, and who care for the most vulnerable among us.  We also acknowledge the profound contributions of the individuals and organizations supporting foster and kinship caregivers, and those of the community providers and professionals who are helping children in foster care find safe and stable families.

We must strive to keep families united, wherever possible, and my Administration is working to reduce the removal of at‑risk children from their homes and familiar surroundings.  Last year, I signed into law the Family First Prevention Services Act, which is working to bolster families and keep children safely in their homes, when possible.  This legislation gives States access to funding for evidence‑based prevention and early intervention services such as mental health therapy, family counseling, substance use and addiction treatment, and parenting classes.  By allowing States to address factors, such as the opioid crisis, America’s sons and daughters are more likely to experience improved outcomes and hope for a brighter future.

When it becomes necessary to move children out of their homes in order to provide more safety, stability, and opportunity, placement with relatives who can provide that environment is the first option.  Children often experience less trauma when in kinship care, which is why the Federal Government is funding programs that provide family caregivers the services and support they need and requiring States to demonstrate how their foster care licensing standards promote family-friendly options.

Children deserve stable family environments, and foster care provides a wonderful opportunity for selfless and compassionate men and women to nurture children while we work to ensure that they have a forever family.  This month, and always, we express our gratitude to all of the families who generously open their doors to children in need and provide them with love and support.  We recommit to looking for opportunities to invest in the lives of our vulnerable young people, and we celebrate those who tirelessly serve our Nation’s children in foster care.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 2019 as National Foster Care Month.  I call upon all Americans to observe this month by taking time to help children and youth in foster care, and to recognize the commitment of those who touch their lives, particularly celebrating their foster parents and other caregivers.

Trump defends rights of faith-based adoption agencies at prayer breakfast

Touting efforts to protect religious freedom, President Donald Trump told the National Prayer Breakfast that his administration would defend the right of faith-based adoption agencies to place children in families based on firmly held religious beliefs.

“We will always protect our country’s proud tradition of faith-based adoption,” Trump said. “My administration is working to ensure that faith-based adoption agencies are able to help vulnerable children find their forever families while following their deeply held beliefs.”

Trump administration removes all migrant teens from giant Tornillo tent camp

The Trump administration has removed all teenagers from a massive tent camp in Texas for unaccompanied migrant teens caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, weeks after a federal watchdog warned about “serious safety and health” concerns at the facility.

Officials said about 5,500 of the 6,200 Central American teens who cycled through the Tornillo camp since June have been released to a parent or guardian inside the United States to await a decision in their immigration cases. About 700 were transferred to other facilities overseen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Judge's order didn't end family separations at border

The Trump administration separated 81 migrant children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border since the June executive order that stopped the general practice amid a crackdown on illegal crossings, according to government data obtained by The Associated Press.

Two rules issued Wednesday by the Trump administration will give some employers the opportunity to seek an exemption when it comes to providing contraception coverage for their employees.

Under the Affordable Care Act, employer-provided health insurance plans are required to cover birth control as a preventive service.

Our daughters came home from China more than a decade ago. The first time their tiny feet touched American soil, we made a big deal of it. Trump’s Child Separations Are Becoming Permanent Because the Whole Child Welfare System Is Broken

Earlier this month, the Associated Press reported that one of the results of the Trump administration’s family-separation program is going to be permanent legal separation in some cases. The AP reported that in the past, separated children in federal or state government care were adopted by American families, frequently without any input or participation from their deported parents. The speed with which children in state care can be permanently separated from their parents, however, isn’t Donald Trump’s doing, and it affects many more children than those caught up in this latest crackdown on undocumented immigrants. For 20 years, federal law has encouraged state child-protection agencies and courts to put hard time limits on family-reunification efforts. The result is that many parents who are good candidates to care for their children nevertheless end up with their legal rights terminated.

More than 60 migrant children remain in U.S. custody after being separated from their parents under the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, according to the latest update from the government.

Trump administration moves $260M from cancer research, other programs to help pay for custody of immigrant children

The Trump administration is planning to shift more than $260 million to cover the rising cost and strain of housing thousands of undocumented immigrant children in their custody – including millions of dollars from programs like cancer research and HIV/AIDS prevention.

The request comes as the program has been strained by record-high levels of children in custody, driven in large part by new policies that are holding kids longer and making it more difficult for them to be released to adults, such as family members.

During Casey Ray Miller's time as a foster parent in Keizer, one of his foster children — an infant girl — left his care with seven broken bones.

He was convicted of two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment for injuring the girl and withholding medical treatment. He was sentenced to 13 days in jail and ordered to have no contact with foster children and undergo anger management treatment and probation.
