2,584 blue pinwheels to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month in Lake County
Community volunteers and county Job and Family Services Department employees plan to plant 2,584 pinwheels early that morning to represent the total number of calls the Children Services Division responded to last year.
The number of calls that CPS Agents respond to is not an accurate indicator of how much child abuse is going on in ones community. A better indicator would be the number of founded or substantiated cases. Since, however, the number of substantiated cases is so much smaller, it just doesn't make as much of an impact on the easily misled.
Child Abuse Propaganda Month is also about fundraisers.
Pinwheels spinning around Northeast Tennessee for child abuse prevention
On April 11, the Women’s Council of Realtors will host a benefit luncheon and purse auction for CASA, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Bank of Tennessee building at 100 Med Tech Parkway. Tickets are $15 and may be obtained by calling CASA at 461-3500.
And on April 13, Ramey Ford will host a “Community Drive,” in which every child abuse prevention survey completed and every test drive made between 8 a.m.-2 p.m. will generate a $20 donation to the local CASA office and a matching donation from Ramey Ford.
And all the System Sucks can join in on the fun and games.
Now although my news feeds get overfilled with this crap every year, I am not going to focus on it because none of you will get up and protest their little parties. You'd all rather sit around crying about your misfortune on Facebook rather than getting out there and doing something about it.
Personally, I think you should be out there pissing on every parade they try to march in. But that's just my opinion.
