Supreme Court upholds right to film police, even in Illinois

Supreme Court upholds right to film police, even in Illinois

The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from the Cook County state's attorney to allow enforcement of a law prohibiting people from recording police officers on the job.
----
in order to make the rights of free expression and petition effective, individuals and organizations must be able to freely gather and record information about the conduct of government and their agents - especially the police.

Note: I assume that this ("government and their agents") applies to CPS Agents as well...  You would be wise to record everything that comes out of the mouth of a CPS Agent.  Makes it harder to twist things around to their advantage.  And don't be shy about it either.
