There is no such thing as a "birth child". It is simply a child. If you want to be more specific it is actually a "child who was relinquished." But I don't see ANYWHERE in this article that the mother's right have been terminated or that this child has been adopted. You can use all the pc terms you choose, but don't demean the freaking child please. He or she is STILL a child regardless of the specific situation he or she is in presently.
