The investigative series focused on how systemic incompetence in Denver's Department of Human Services tried to cover up serious errors that resulted in the deaths of some children. Denver's ABC affiliate was one of only three TV stations in the country given the honor. The series helped to drive awareness of problems in the foster care system in the Denver area in particular, and sparked statewide changes to help foster children.
