Gov't may probe group foster homes: source
The Manitoba government may offer to call a public inquiry today into the province's former group foster home system.
A source said Family Services Minister Gord Mackintosh is expected to make a written offer to Sam McGillivary today. It will likely include calling a public inquiry into the system that saw McGillivary and an unknown number of other aboriginal children taken from their homes in the 1960s, '70s and '80s and sent to homes for "delinquents," where some performed child labour and suffered abuses.
