Family Courts Foster Far More Harm Than Good for Parents and Families

Family Courts Foster Far More Harm Than Good for Parents and Families

The family court is where you go to sue for divorce or paternity issues. Most often the litigants (i.e. fathers and mothers) are fit parents. But the family court setup creates judgments or fosters settlements that do far more harm than good to litigants, their children, and their futures.

During staff meetings at the Cumberland County Department of Social Services, Director Brenda Reid Jackson has invited unhappy employees to leave the county payroll and dared them to sue, some employees say.

Charolettee Hope hasn't sued. But the former forensic child-abuse investigator, fired by Jackson in May 2009 after little more than a year on the job, has complained to state authorities.

A child-abuse scandal

A child-abuse scandal

In Los Angeles County at least two animal control agencies investigate reports of serious animal abuse the same day. If the abuse is life-threatening, the animal is quickly removed from the home.

Contrast that quick response to the way the county investigates child-abuse cases. Social workers have 30 days to investigate reports of child abuse or neglect, and even then they have a backlog of 20,000 cases.

When the wind blows...

For my sons. When the wind blows across your face today, pretend it is a kiss from me. When the sun shines on you today think of me hugging you. When you see the stars tonight know I am reading you a story. When you hear a bird sing, it is me singing you a lullaby. If you feel a rain drop, know it is my tear because i miss you so much today.

Calif . woman in child-custody battle with Ohio man

A Southern California woman faces the prospect of relinquishing a little girl she has been trying to adopt for 18 months while an Ohio court considers the biological father's custody claim, according to a court decision Friday.

A teleconference between judges and lawyers in Orange County, Calif., and Montgomery County, Ohio, determined that Ohio has jurisdiction in the case, said Stacey Doss, 45, of Rancho Santa Margarita.

Adoptive mom, biological dad fight for toddler

Adoptive mom, biological dad fight for toddler

A hearing to be held this morning in Orange County Superior Court could determine the next step in a long-running child custody fight pitting an Orange County adoptive mother against a biological father in Ohio who served prison time for domestic violence.
----
Doss, a public relations consultant and single mother, believes Mills shouldn't get custody because she is the only mother Vanessa has known. She also points out that Mills served time for domestic violence in 2005. At issue at today's hearing is whether Orange County or Montgomery County will have jurisdiction over the case. If Ohio prevails, Vanessa would be sent there and placed in foster care until a permanent solution is reached. Doss says forcing Vanessa to be separated from her would be devastating to the child – and to her.

Note: This is an interesting case because Doss is a public relations consultant who obviously knows what a hot button topic "Domestic Violence" is these days, "Oh he committed violence against a woman who would lie to adopt the kid right out from under him, 5 years ago," and is therefore obviously a nut case.

But since we do not know the circumstances surrounding the incident in question, we should not assume this to be the only reason used to justify the adoption.

Did Mel Gibson Shake His Baby? Child Services To Investigate

After 2006’s drunken anti-Semitic rant, followed by generally racist and misogynistic news about the man, it’s really no surprise that Mel Gibson is a horrible, vile, bad human being. The fact that I liked Lethal Weapon is making me feel dirty right this second and I haven’t seen it in the past nine years or so.
