LETTERS: Fury over arrest of boy with toy gun

LETTERS: Fury over arrest of boy with toy gun

If I didn’t know it was news I would have thought the article about the 10-year-old being arrested for playing with a broken toy gun after school hours, dragged away from his mother and going to court in chains would have been something out of a dark Dickensian story. Only the paramount buffoonery of a society of idiots could have come up with this sick form of mental child abuse and frankly I hope the parents find a lawyer who will dog this bunch until they are held accountable.

Happy Meal Toy Champions Call City Councilman Fat

Happy Meal Toy Champions Call City Councilman Fat

Nobody seems to like City Councilman's Leroy Comrie's proposed Happy Meal regulations. On Tuesday when Comrie announced the proposed law—which aims to set "nutrition standards for distributing incentive items aimed at children,"—he acknowledged that, weighing in at 335 pounds himself, he was hardly a model of healthy eating (in fact that was part of his point). So no surprise that both the Post (Councilman, Heal Thyself) and the News (City Councilman Leroy Comrie's bill to ban toys in Happy Meals with over 500 calories is fat-headed) today ran editorials decrying the plan as a dud from a self-hating, publicity-hungry tub of lard. And not happy to stop there, the Post went to the next level and got Comrie's weight-watching, yoga-doing wife Marcia on the record to complain about her rotund husband's eating habits.

Mom Attacked for Selling Her Kids' Toys on eBay

Mom Attacked for Selling Her Kids' Toys on eBay

I try to pretend that kids have a right to their personal property. I really do. But when you're standing at the door of what used to be a playroom that now resembles the Midwest right after a twister blew through, it's hard.

Mom Punishes Kids By Selling Their Toys on eBay, 4chan Boosts Bids to Over $9,000

Note: See? All of these self-righteous hypocrites wonder why our kids are so out of control today. The reason is because we have to worry about what others think about our parenting skills for fear of being ratted out to CPS.

Citing dangers, U.S. panel bans drop-side cribs

Citing dangers, U.S. panel bans drop-side cribs

The drop-side cribs familiar to generations of families are about to become history.

Responding yesterday to the deaths of more than 30 infants and toddlers in the past decade, the Consumer Product Safety Commission voted to ban the manufacture, sale and resale of drop-sides altogether.

Note: Has a kid ever gotten hurt or killed while falling off of bunk beds? Why not ban those?

Or how about the tree house...

The bicycle...

The swing set...

Has a kid ever gotten hurt or killed while traveling in an automobile? Should we ban those now?

The point is people that there are risks associated with life itself. It sucks but that's the way it is. Deal with it.

"Video Girl" Barbie: Is This a Bad Idea?

"Video Girl" Barbie: Is This a Bad Idea?

At first glance, Barbie's new necklace screams serious bling. But upon closer scrutiny, you'll see there's a video camera embedded in the ruby, which can record up to 30 minutes of footage. Is Mattel running out of accessory ideas? No, it's all part of Barbie's new gig -- "Video Girl". You go, girl. Only problem is, this seems wildly inappropriate to some parents. A psychologist in Australia is leading a boycott of the product, claiming Barbie's covert camera will allow adults to exploit children, and will allow kids to upload inappropriate videos on the internet.
