Report: China’s Separation of Uyghur Children from Families a “Cultural Genocide”

In China, a new report by the BBC found evidence that authorities are systematically taking Muslim children—many of them from the Uyghur community—from their families, in the far western region of Xinjiang. According to the report, China is rushing to build boarding schools where children are deliberately removed from their language and culture. Meanwhile, an estimated 1 million adults from the Uyghur community are being imprisoned in camps that China claims are “vocational training centers” designed to combat extremism. Many of the children who have detained parents or other family members are more vulnerable to removal. The author of the report concludes that “the evidence points to what we must call cultural genocide.”

Woman Cheats Ex-Boyfriend Out of $90,000 With Photos of Fake Son

A woman was arrested after tricking a former partner into paying child support with photos of a child who she claimed was their son. After being reported to the police, the woman was arrested for fraud in China’s Suzhou City on April 20, according to the Hangzhou Daily.

The woman, named Bei, allegedly cheated her ex-boyfriend, named Zhao, out of 600,000 yuan ($90,000) for over two years. She edited photos of herself holding a friend’s son, who she claimed was fathered by Zhao.

Chinese Schools Adopting ‘Smart Uniforms’ With GPS That Track Student Location

A growing number of Chinese schools are using uniforms with computer chips to keep tabs on their students, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reports. Not only do these uniforms allow parents and school officials to track students using GPS, facial recognition systems at school entrances ensure crafty students aren’t cheating the system.

Leaving the grounds during school hours triggers an audible alarm in the clothing. An app allows parents to see entry and departure times along with video footage.

Outrage Intensifies Over Claims Of Gene-Edited Babies

Ever since a Chinese scientist rocked the world by claiming he had created gene-edited twin girls, international outrage has only intensified.

"Everything that's emerged over the last week only adds to the concern about this having been a deeply unfortunate, misguided misadventure of the most dramatic sort," says Francis Collins, director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. "It was shocking at the time. A week later, it's still shocking."

Why desperate Chinese mother offered her triplets for adoption on social media site

A mother of triplets in eastern China offered her sons for adoption on a live-streaming social media platform after her gambling debt-laden husband abandoned her when the children were barely four weeks old.

Her husband, surnamed Zhao, returned after the incident was covered by local media, Zhejiang-based news site Thehour.cn reported on Monday. The mother’s account on the social media site TikTok was deleted, but screenshots of her posts offering the babies are still in circulation.

Former Clinton Foundation Executive Tied to Chinese Kindergartens Investigated for Child Abuse

For the second time, a Chinese kindergarten run by the RYB Education New World company is being investigated for abusing children, this time with allegations of staff injecting children with unknown substances, feeding them white pills, and forcing them to strip naked for “health checks” by nude men.

The Beijing-based, New York-listed RYB Education company has Joel Getz as an independent director. Getz was president of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and is the former director of development for the Clinton Foundation.
