Foster-adoptive son won't call us mom & dad
We adopted our son from foster care when he was 8 years old. He is now 11 years old. During the 1 1/2 years he was our foster son, we told him it was ok to call us by our first names because we knew he would need time to adjust (he had been in 3 foster homes before our home).
Note: Awwww. The poor things.
Why does he have to call you mom or your husband dad for you to bond with him? Did you not maybe think that he knows he has a "mom" and "dad" and you are not them? You should be more considerate of his feelings, he isn't a possesion for you to own.
