26 children died while under province's protection since 2009
Documents obtained by CBC News under Access to Information have revealed that more than two dozen children under the province's protection have died since the formation of the Newfoundland and Labrador Child, Youth and Family Services department in 2009.
Note: Not as bad as Alberta, but still...
*If - as I suspect is true - similarities exist between Provinces in under-reporting of fatalities, the statistics cited (as horrible as is) are much worse. Initially, Alberta publicly proclaimed 56 children had died but once reporters investigated fatality records, learned of hundreds of victims... Last count in Alberta, 761 children lost their lives. More than 13 times the number of deaths disclosed by government!
