When a parent shows favoritism to another child, especially beginning at a very early age it can define both children's sense of self-worth.
When a parent shows favoritism to one child they may have a personality issue themselves and usually makes for a very, sometimes extremely unhealthy environment to grow up in.
"Making fun of" and demanding they get over it, is not how you can help. How you can help is by self eduacating yourself on this subject, parental alienation, narcissim, etc.
