This Mother’s Day, Jaime Rea will work her usual 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday shift at the doughnut shop she manages and then come home and probably watch a Disney movie as she “snugglebugs” with her 11-year-old son, Brandon Slezak, in the bamboo chair in the kitchen — all ordinary things that would have been impossible not long ago.
