Alumna of Maine’s foster care system advocates for change at community forum
As part of National Foster Care Awareness Month, the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine will host Dianna Walters, an alumna of Maine’s foster care system and current policy associate at the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative, for a community forum and presentation on building successful paths to adulthood for youth in foster care. The event will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the Wishcamper Center, room 102, on the USM Portland campus and is free and open to the public.
Great. Then they kick them out of Fostercare at 18 whith nothing but the shirt on their back, a wrecked relationship with their families. No supports, traumatized yet again. Great Job. Why? Becuase the Fed. Money stops at 18. I'm hearing Foster children are showing up in Homeless Shelters! Nice job.
