Abducted generations?

Abducted generations?

In the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, being an unwed mother carried a significant stigma in America. It’s now called the “baby scoop” era and during this time young women -- usually in their teens -- were either hidden at home, sent to live with distant relatives or quietly dispatched to maternity homes to give birth.

  1. I have always thought the same , here here LK. So for every "adoption then , if not decided independantly and free thinking of the mother was forced adoption. In those days your parents could put massive pressure on you as it was sinful to be born out of wedlock . A terrible stigma. So these poor ladies gave up their kids.

My ex long term foster carers were horrified when I told them I was pregnant , they advised me that it would be best to adopt ( like them) or abort. Thank goodness I stood my ground and refused . I have my wonderful 18 year old son. I had been gone from them for almost two years when this happened. .
