‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood fails drug test

‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood fails drug test

Amber Portwood, the ‘Teen Mom’ who stared in the reality series first season is no stranger to turmoil, trouble and the law. Portwood has had numerous run-ins with child protective services over potential domestic abuse against her baby’s father, Gary Shirley, as well as numerous drug charges. Portwood received a break when the court allowed the drug charges to be expunged from her record if she complies with the court’s requirements of probation. Portwoods most recent arrest was back in December 2010 when authorities searched her apartment and allegedly found a significant amount of crack-cocaine. If convicted of a class D felony, Portwood could have faced up to a 5-year prison sentence, however, Portwood avoided hard time by agreeing to stay at a halfway house and undergo drug rehabilitation that included highly managed, daily drug testing. If, at any time, Portwood failed a drug test, the judge could impose the original prison sentence.
