Adoption And Fostering Part One: DHHS Makes Plea For More Quality Foster Care Homes

Adoption And Fostering Part One: DHHS Makes Plea For More Quality Foster Care Homes

Officials with the Department of Health and Human Services say it's critical to find more homes for children in the foster care system.

Note: I am totally disgusted with this article.

Look at how they flat out admit that there are abusive and neglectful foster homes.  Then they plead for more without telling you what they're doing to address this issue which becomes secondary to their desperate need for more homes.   Oh wait, I take that back, the solution to all of the abusive foster homes in Maine is more foster homes.

Brilliant!  Simply Brilliant!  They don't even mention the fact that you get paid!

I could reasonably argue that they're not doing a damn thing to address the issue of abusive foster homes in Maine, except maybe packing the kids in like sardines.  Hell, I don't even know if the Foster Parent from Maine who fucked my step son up the ass ever did a day in jail because the state did such a good job of covering it up and keeping him all doped up on psych meds so that he would forget like a good little $280 dollar a day, special needs meal ticket.

This Therese Cahill-Low, who is quoted here, is Maine's new CPS director.  She was the one who replaced the man who was credited with cutting the number of foster kids in half in Maine (James Beougher).  He was fired, probably because the solution to high numbers of foster kids are more services to parents so that the kids can safely remain in the homes.  Of course that falls under the stigma of "welfare" and we know how the Tea Party Republicans feel about that, regardless of the FACT that it is cheaper to help the family than it is to throw the kids into foster care.  Now, under the administration of Governor Paul LePage we suddenly need more foster homes.  And they are so desperate that "they'll take just about anybody" who is interested and throw in the word "quality" to make it look like there are actually standards.

"You can choose the age, the level of needs..."

Just a couple of years ago, Maine was bragging about what a phenomenal child welfare system they had, due to the lower number of kids in care and the higher number of kids who were able to remain safely in their homes.   And now, just one gubernatorial administration later everything goes right back to hell.  They have a convenient excuse, they ask for $4.2 million from the legislature so that they can cover the unplanned increase.

And the funny thing is that so many of the family rights people are conservatives.  Well I hate to tell you this, but the Democrats support this issue because it's a liberal-feminist issue.  The Republicans support it because they think that they're doing God's work.  Both are completely full of shit.

The government is not the solution to the Child Welfare mess.  At least not until we can scare the hell out of enough of the mindless sheep so that they will start crying out for fairness, justice and truth in the Child Welfare System.  Unfortunately this will never happen because so many of them are emotionally moved by the horrific cases that the media bombards them with on a daily basis.  So instead they cry out for CPS to do more and more and more!!!

Ah, but ignorance is bliss, right?  At least until you experience the pleasures of a CPS Agent crawling up your ass.
